I recieved this game, and was excited to play. Could not get the guncon to work. After reading the manual, in very small print it states not compatible eith HD tvs. I was not aware of this. I tried to contact seller to return product, who offered no help other than to try again to make it work. It didnt of course. The seller would not reply to my emails, and now im stuck with a game I cant use. do not buy from dkahn927!!!!!

DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING WARNING: I take whatever is listed on the box with a grain of salt, and in this case the 'Dual-Guncon' mode is actually unlocked once you reach 60% completion in the Story Mode. Even then I wouldn't depend on that for co-op play.

THIS IS NOT A TWO PLAYER GAME, IT IS ONE PLAYER ONLY!!! If you want co-op then get Time Crisis 3 as that is a pretty solid game.

Graphics

-Fairly nice, the environment is interactive (a lot more stuff to shoot at and destroy) and the player/enemy models are pretty detailed.

Sound

-Generic, meh. You can put in your own music without missing much. On-screen visual cues are well done and negate the need for paying attention to the audio.

Gameplay

-Your basic Time Crisis game. You move around a predetermined path and you shoot at the enemies/vehicles/objects within the specified time limit and making sure to duck behind your shield to avoid being hit. Its a bit more generic and limted then TC3 but its more suited for solo experiences. You get a machine gun, but each enemy takes several hits to take out and thus makes such an 'upgrade' nearly meaningless. I'd even venture to say its harder then usual since you aren't sure how many shots it'll take to take out an enemy (no lifebars like TC3). You run outta ammo really quickly (who the HELL has heard of ANY automatic weapon with only 40 bullets!?) and there is no way to switch to single-shot or 3-round-bursts which makes 'watching your ammo' a bit of a hectic frustration. Reloading is instant but an instant is all it takes to get killed.

The difficulty is pretty unforgiving, even on 'Very Easy'. My younger brother, a veteran of the series, mentioned that 'Very Easy' difficulty played like 'Hard' difficulty on TC3.

The Crisis Missions shouldn't even be attempted unless you've mastered the Story mode, but you're welcome to try (and fail several dozen times). Being semi-skilled, I was able to complete several of the Crisis Missions without even getting past the first level (on Very Easy) but only after a LOT of persistence. I believe the 'No Shield for 45 seconds' and the 'Don't destroy anything' ones were the hardest for me.

Overall feel free to buy this game if you have nobody to play with, otherwise stick with the much-superior Time Crisis 3.

Time Crisis: Crisis Zone marks another great Arcade Shooter from Namco, as well as a great addition to the Time Crisis series.

Crisis Zone is filled with the normal Time Crisis formula of duck for block, and shooting when standing, but this puts something different into the mix; instead of ducking behind random objects, you go behind a steel riot shield with a sight, letting you actually move around the place more as well as being able to see while ducked. The other difference is the main weapon, an SMG with 40 rounds per clip; you may think this makes it easy, but the enemies have enough health to make it a challenge all the way. Unlike all other Time Crisis games, however, this is a 1-player game only.

The basic story is that you're the leader of a riot squad called the Special Tactical Force (STF) in London, and you're trying to retake a new, multipurpose area on the outskirts of London, called Garland Square, that was taken over by terrorist forces. Garland Square itself is a modern, self-sufficient multiplex, with houses, stores, a park, and an office building with some of the latest technology in the world, and it is one of the most advanced areas for commerce and business in all of Europe, making it a BIG bargaining chip for the terrorist forces. Your main job is to go into the different areas of Garland Square and kill all terrorist forces you encounter, and taking back the multiplex, as well as trying to find the leader of this attack.

The gameplay has the normal TC formula with said changes, and it has more on the PS2 console. You get to choose which area to tackle first (I suggest going from left to right) when you start, and as you play the game you get to choose where to go next.

Besides the story mode, there are other extra modes to play. After you beat the normal game, you get to play an ORIGINAL story mode (for PS2 version only) set 6 years afterwards. While in this story, you can kill special brown troops for new weapons, such as a laser rifle and a gatling gun.

And if that wern't enough, as you earn these extra weapons, more Crisis Missions are unlocked. These missions are fun, but VERY difficult, and range from taking out enemies without shooting allies to surviving nearly a minute without a shield. The more you beat, the higher your completion will be for the whole thing. When you get to 60% completion, you get to use TWO Guncon 2's and dual wield SMG's in story mode. 100% gets you unlimited ammo (no need to reload).

There ARE rewards to playing story mode a lot. With every two game overs, you get an extra continue. When you beat story mode, you get to add health to your healthbar. So, this gets you extra insentive to play story mode, and the more you play the easier it gets. Difficulty can be set from very easy to very hard.

All in all, this is a good, but difficult, game for all fans of Arcade Shooters or machine guns. If you're looking for multiplayer, go for Time Crisis 3. If you're looking for a single player challenge with lots of extras, then go with Time Crisis: Crisis Zone. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. This is what got me hooked on the arcade shooter genre.

This game could be fun, unfortunately I have had nothing but problems. First, the description states "immerse yourself in double-gun shooting action". The second gun configures fine, however during game play it does absolutely nothing. This was the deciding factor for me: I wanted a game that my son and I could play together at the same time. Secondly, and which for me makes the game a 1 star, is the fact that when you hold the trigger for machine gun action, a weird hazy effect is shown on screen which makes it nearly impossible to see what you are shooting at. This is a horrible effect and totally ruins the game. Would NOT EVER BUY AGAIN.

Even for nonfans of the Rock,The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian still manages to surprise and charm. Exceeding the expectations of the movie tie-in game is easy, but even with that meager goal,The Scorpion King rides high. The game makers didn't cheat on details: voiceover is provided by the actor (Dwayne Johnson), and the storyline is great. After you walk through a basic training in the middle of the desert, your first quest is to fight for a woman's fallen honor.

Here's the kind of thing that makes a game good: when Mathayus (your avatar) hits someone and they fall to the ground, his head slowly moves as he watches the enemy get up again. Those touches don't come cheap, and neither does intelligent game design. When you find a health power-up, itcomes to you, saving you the annoyance of having to back out of battle to pick it up. Because of this, you walk through the map much more quickly--even Mathayus himself seems a little loose and speeded-up in his movements, compared with other games.

Where they could have had a cheap cop-out game (knowing they'd sell a certain number to fans regardless), the team behindThe Scorpion King made a fun mid-difficulty-level game. It's unlikely you'll stay up till all hours playing this title, but the hours you spend will be fun and engaging, with good visuals and few mechanical annoyances.--Jennifer Buckendorff

First of all, this game sucks. this completley sucks. First of all the camera looks away from you when you are fighting. Plus using the analog stick is more complicated than figuring out how to explain your bad grades on your report card to your parents. Seriously, when u try to turn around it will just move foward. It would have been a better game if u could ude the D-pad. The controls are hard to memorize. Plus the camera dosen't help. The story and graphics are as horrible as the jokes in Full House. The rock looks like the skinny version of the blob.

If you get this a gift from your parents, it means they hate you. But parents, if you want to punish your kid, make them play this game. Not enertaining at all. You'll quit before you get to level 2. With all the stupid stuff in this game, it wins the award for the suckiest game ever created! Stay away from this game at all cost! This sh*t is unplayable! If u liked the movie, don't buy this and by the f*ckin' movie instead!

This game was a big dissopointment. It's satisfying at the beginning but then it gets really boring. The only thing that they try to make it more exciting with is by throwing out more people for you to fight. Then the game gets really, really stupid. I mean, it's not even fun to play anymore. Then when you finally get to the end you can't beat the bad guy at the end.
So if you really want to have some fun and excitement get something like "Lord of the Ring" or "Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy" or "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time"

This is a good game and can be fun but it dissapoints in many aspects.Here are some-

1-The voice acting sucks and only vaguely relate to what the characters say in the series.

2-Multiplayer mode isn't that good because the attacks (like Heero's double beam cannon) aren't that spectacular

P.S. I wish they made a game based on Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz because, in comparison to Gundam SEED, Gundam Wing although older and not as shiny has a much better storyline and much more game material than Seed. (plus the gundams look a'lot more flashy.(especially ZERO, EPYON, ans TALLGEESE 2.

Battle Assault 3 Featuring Gundam Seed is a solid fighting game with many unlockable suits from Gundam Seed. The player plays as Kira Yamato in Mission Mode and fight various enemies based on the route the player takes in each chapter.

The battles in each mission vary from 1 on 2, 1 on N, 1 on 1, 2 on 2, etc., before the player enters a mission, a status screen is displayed on the location where battle will commence, it shows the difficulty level and the Gundam the player will be using in that particular battle; because there are different routes to take, this status screen offers player a chance to think whether he can handle the enemies in that battle or not, if he decides that it might be too much for the first playthrough, an alternative route is always available and is relatively easier (most of the time).

Aside from Mission Mode, BA3 also has VS Mode, Tag Mode, Survival Mode and other extras that are unlockable throughout the game. With the huge amount of suits waiting to be revealed, the game will hook up those who play for at least 10 to 15 hours straight.

Graphical aspect in this game is very attractive, each suit is furnished in its own way to give reflections of lights, and during an execution of a desperation move (super attack), the camera zooms in with the pilot's portrait appearing on screen to yell out a phrase, followed by the fancy desperation move.

Speaking of the phrases being said in this game, it is a big letdown, the English voice acting for animes has always been horrible, unfortunately, BA3 inherits this trait and worsens it even further, every conversation boils down to

A: I don't wanna fight

B: I'll kill you

*battle ends*

A: don't throw away your life so easily

B: argh... I must retreat

they have little variety and sound dull, however, since this is a fighting game, voice acting is hardly the focus, it should not affect the overall effect of the game.

Sometimes players may find the controls a bit frustrating, one of improvements that must be made in the next game is probably the "unable to switch target when hit", there are, at most, 2 enemies on the battlefield the player will be fighting against, depends on the difficulty level, they can either act very noobish or can join together to pawn the player without mercy, which can get very annoying after many tries and still not being able to win. When the player's suit is hit, it'll fall on the ground, if this game allows target change when hit, as soon as player's suit gets up, he might be able to pull of a desperation attack to finish the suit that's doing the most damage to him; unfortunately, this function is not available, the player's suit must get up first before his target can be switched, and during that time, the player is vulnerable to many combos pulled off by his enemies and could potentially lose the battle from that.

Although BA3 has some flaws that will keep hardcore fighting game fans away, Gundam Seed fans, mecha fans and other gamers who want to get a taste of a 3D fighting game with free movements in an arena with at max, 4 suits per battle on screen should definitely give a shot at this game. And be sure to look out for the Japanese version of this game, which will offer not only Gundam Seed units, but probably Gundam Seed Destiny units with Japanese voice actings when it's released.

Ok so i bought this from gamestop used for like 5 bucks.And im not gonna complain and say that i wasted my money or anything like that but this game isn't that great.Sure i played it for awhile but it just got to boreing for me.I'm not gonna explain what you do or what its all about but i will tell you that the gameplay pretty much sucks especialy if your the type that likes free roam games.There are these mini games or whatever you wonna call them i gues to train your character or something i dont really know i didn't play it long enough.Well anyway the bottom line you should really really try before you buy.

Like other reviewers, I found the strategy and elegance of this game compelling. At first, it was difficult -- so much so I gave it up for months. When I had more time, I returned to the game -- and within a week I mastered (well, I should be more humble: grasped) the controls. Kengo is nice because it requires you to really watch your opponent instead of barraging him with everything you got. At first, I had to do this to advance -- but once I reached a certain comfort with the game pacing, I realized I could allow my opponent time to recover and strike again.

This is a game, I think, that you can play for a long time -- slowly coming to terms with the user interface and matching its rhythm -- instead over overwhelming it with your nervous system.

Little things in the game, like the types of training, are ...yes, relaxing. It's amazing to see a game that actually relaxes you. The Japanese culture one experiences from the game is marvellous -- I only wish that they gave the various teachers of the schools more personality instead of having them say the same lines (with different voice acting). Definitely a good game to pick up and have in your library.

This is a game, more games should be made like this. Im a person that likes fighting games but i cant stand the skilless button slamming games where all that matters is you pressed A faster then the other guy. Untill i found Kengo: Master of Bushido, i thought Tekken games were my only salvation. But now im tearing down that church and building a shrine to Kengo.
No more nightmares of seeing my poor character being pummeled by my friend as stupid flashing neon letters scream out 74 HIT COMBO OF DOOM!
This game is 1 of skill and tactics and strategy and thinking and planning, and all other words that mean you dont run at the other guy screaming.
You choose a swordsmen and then what school he should go to. Then you train him to pass all of that dojos tests and eventually beat its master. Then you go to other dojos to beat their masters and be the best. All the while you learn new techniques and train your skills.
Now im also not a big sword fan, but this game makes me want to build a time machine and go back in time in japan and do this stuff.
The game is fun requires you to think about what fighting techniques your opponent is usuing and what counters them, when to block dodge or parry. Oh theres so much i cant say it all.

In short if you hate button smashing lame games thats main selling points it half naked women and super insane fighting moves that dont make sense, Kengo:Master of Bushido is the closest thing youll get to your dream of a fighting game that makes sense, at least for now.

I love kengo: master of bushido. I don't have a katana but I bought a boken immediately. The game basically takes a bit. I had fun in sort of imagining my own story line.

The fighting is the whole game. It is extremely fun though. I won the tournament but the game still wasn't over. It can go on for a long time. You can train or fight other men. You also fight other schools for their sword's and technique's. I started out in the thrusting school and grew to love it like it was my home.

There are tons of different moves and combos. you can customize your own combos. They are really easy to pull off and you always know it hurt the other guy.

Basically the game is fun though. I chose a guy and made up my own story. Katanas can only be used during tournament play or when you kill a master. But the game is extremely fun still. I really wish I could find a copy though. If you can, hold on to this rare gem.

Kengo: Master of Bushido is quite simply the best fighting game I have ever played, and trust me... I've played alot of them! It's graphics are pretty good, although at points they are a bit jagged. The gameplay is very realistic, and it really helps you understand a samurai's struggles to becoming a master swordsman. Although I must admit that the training does get frustrating at times, it is still fun. If you like slicing an opponent open and seeing blood splurt out, you'll like this game. Parents, don't worry you can turn off the gore in the options menu. The tournaments are pretty fun also, but playing the first person levels are better. I hope you'll have as much fun as I have.

I bought this game mainly due to the fact that I'm a die hard fan of the movie, the book, and all of Chuck Palahniuk's work. I've never played any other games made by Vivendi.

Overall this game is fair at most. There are only 3 fighting styles, and quite a few characters. Each character has one of the 3 fighting styles, which all have the same moves. That gets boring quick.

There is a decent amount of levels to play on and quite a few characters, which is a plus. The narrator, Tyler, Raymond K Hessel, Angelface, etc.

I think the best part of this game is the bone breaking animations.

Like the title says, it's worth a rental. I bought it and I've only played it a handful of times.

I read all the reviews and thought..."how bad could it be, I mean it's Fight Club" well, let me put it this way, I only paid $7 for this game and was still pissed and felt like I was ripped off. I hated it so much!!! The moves suck and are way to hard to do, and the game is just real boring...and they sure talk about "Fight Club" and "Project Mayhem" quite openly (two things they are not supossed to talk about at all). I hope by the time you read this and all the other reviews you take our word and decide not to waste your time or money like we did...

If you love the movie, you'll hate the game...

First off, I am more inclined to give this game a 2.5.

The only reason I purchased this game was because I had a blockbuster gift card I'd been meaning to get rid of, I'm a huge Fight Club fan, and the game itself was only 17 bucks. Many of the characters in the game indeed do not look like those in the film. For example, "Jack" (or Edward Norton) looks chubby, and Tyler (or Brad Pitt) looks like the French snowboarder from SSX. The controls are also a bit difficult to work with, but once you get the hang of it and finally memorize how to do some of the moves, it isn't so bad. I had high hopes for this game, thinking that it would at least depict the characters from the film. And besides that, the game isn't exactly something that would keep you interested for a long time.

However, I am not completely unsatisfied. Every now and then it's still sort of fun to play against a friend and see bones being broken in slow motion. Maybe if this game was made into an adventure game (like the movie) with just some fighting, it would be far more interesting.

"Better Than Fight Night 2004" 2005-09-04

First of all, I'll try to keep this review short and simple. I own 2 boxing games for the xbox. Fight Night 2004 and Knockout Kings 2002. Fight Night 2004 has slightly better gtaphics and seems to be a "deeper" game, but Knockout Kings 2002 is funner and more playable. In Fight Night 2004, your fighter almost seems to be anchored down....which makes an aggressive attack almost impossible. In Knockout Kings 2002, you can move more freely about the ring...making offense and defense more controllable. Also, controlling punches in Fight Night 2004 is very difficult and slow. Boxing is a fast sport based on instinctive reactions, Fight Night 2004 makes this nearly impossible. Knockout Kings 2002 on the other hand is straight forward and instinctive while still giving you control over a full aresenal of punches and combinations. I have yet to play Fight Night Round 2, hopefully it's a drastic improvement in playability over Fight Night 2004. To sum it all up, Knockout Kings 2002 is a better game than Fight Night 2004.

I was happy to see some new faces in the game (Klitschko Bros) but like others have stated, it is not strategic and lacks the "boxing" of Knockout Kings 2001. It is true to say that every fight is like a slugfest and the one that can hit the buttons the fastest wins. I hope they release a new Knockout Kings and return to the 2001 formula.

This has pretty much all the champs, Ali, Frazier, Leonard, Lewis, and Holyfield, among others. The graphics, sound, play controls are all well put together. I especially like the blood and bruise feature you can give to a boxer after your player has given him a particularly brutal beating. I've sat down with friends a couple of hours at a time betting on matches we have with each other. That's probably what this game is best for, group participation fun, rather than sitting down by yourself to play it. That is unless you're taking time by yourself to create your own trained boxer. I'd say I created the most powerful one, nobody could beat me after that, until my friend 'accidentally' erased him off my memory card. I say it was on purpose. Definitely go ahead and buy this one at a used price if you want the best boxing game to play with your pals, rather than buying some goofy boxing game like Ready to Rumble, because this a more mature and realistic boxing game.

The game has good graphics and fight sequences. The boxer's facial features and expressions when they get hit is realistic as well, which is one of the reasons why I like this game.

Some of its problems is that Muhammad Ali is too strong and too fast. I was able to beat him, but it took a while to figure out his style. In fact, so much attention and skill is given to Ali that one would think the game should be called Muhammad Ali boxing rather than KK 2002. Another problem is that it's hard to throw body blows. I accidently discovered how to throw body blows when I pressed a bunch of buttons. Until that point, I didn't know I was able to use body punches.

It was disappointing to see only a few popular boxers in this game. It would have been cool to see Dempsey, Marciano, Liston, Tyson, etc.

In Aeon Flux, you assume the role of our titular heroine as she embarks on stealth and demolition missions. True to the schizophrenic continuality of the original TV series, Aeon's allegiance and identity in the game constantly changes from level to level. In one level, Aeon may be protecting Chairman Goodchild, while in another level; she may be attempting to assassinate him. Additionally, the developer has taken painstaking steps to religiously recreate the world originally envisioned by Peter Chung. The game features all of Aeon's triple-jointed signature moves and Aeon's notorious FUG (Flex Universal Gun) complete with four varieties of ammo and the ability to ascend and descend via grapple function. While the game's aesthetics and design is spot on to the franchises distinct style, gameplay teeters between fluidly fast-pace action and insanely difficult and tedious game segments. Firstly, almost all of the back-story is told through collecting and viewing Intel Capsules. The process of accessing and reading screens of Intel Capsule text cancels out the engrossing aspects of gameplay and rips your attention away from identifying with the heroine. Moreover, many of the mini-puzzles peppered throughout the game are absurdly difficult. For instance, Aeon may be tasked to lower a shield barrier to enable her compatriots to escape the area. To lower the shield, Aeon has to guide her Orb device through an insane obstacle course to the shield access port in two different locations. By the time you actually access the first port your compatriots will have already been riddled with gun fire--repeat level, add nauseam. If you're a fan of Aeon Flux, this game will be an enjoyable romp; otherwise, you should pick this title up at your own risk.

Paying hommage more to the cartoon series of "Aeon Flux" rather than the movie version, "Aeon Flux" (the game) is a solid, entertaining, and challenging play.

The story, set into different episodes that span a great deal of time, is a tribute to Aeon's notoriously muddled continuity. You will die only to be reborn and then die again. Aeon, voiced by Charlize Theron, controls gracefully...if rather clumsy. For the varied moves the game offers some are a bit hard to pull of. Especially under the time constraints the game loves to put forth. Although the game does offer an onscreen timing indicator, it can still be a bit tricky and rather frustrating. The animation is great and Aeon looks beautiful as she makes her way through the game.

That said, the graphics are great and the characters models look great. Interesting to note that most of the character models are crafted after the cartoon versions and not the film. So fans of the series will take great joy in watching Aeon interact with those familiar faces. Aeon is presented in many different lights (including the wife of Goodchild) and the game offers some cool unlockables. Varied costumes choice, including the movie catsuit but not the original Aeon Flux, gives the game good replay value. The difficulty is high, as the game presents lots of jumping elements and stealth game play. It's easy to become frustrated with all the bullets flying and the death toll rising, but the sheer joy at creating such choas presents its own charm.

Fans of action games will have a good time with this one...but it's real joy will be for Flux fans who have been eager to finally get their joysticks revved up with Aeon Flux. A surprising solid game that has found a audience despite the lackluster performace of the Flux film. A definate treat that deserves a once over.

This game is VERY much like Bloodreign 2. Great to look at and initially fun to play, but in the end kind of boring. It has lots of climbing poles and flipping all over the place like BR2, and shares many control and gameplay designs with that title. It also has a "metroid prime-esque" repeating gameplay function were you guide a ball through obstacle courses, one with a large ball containing Aeon herself and another with a tiny ball used to hack into interfaces. This is fun the first few times but is repeated WAY to often and becomes quite frustrating very quickly. If you are an Aeon fan, then it is worth owning for posterity, this is the closest were gonna get to the Aeon game we were promised so many moons ago. Or if you liked Bloodreign than this is very much a futuristic "cyberpunk" styled version of that game. But I honestly can't say that this game is worth 50 bucks, if you intend to purchase it shop around. If you are neither of these above and are just looking for a new action title to play, this title perfectly embodies the oft-repeated cliche "rent it first".

PS: A.Cuvilly, I totally agree they skimped out when they didn't include the original costume :)

As Obi-Wan would say "patience young one". The average player might give up after a few levels. Its definitely challenging. This game has it all run, flip ,jump, escape, shoot. I never got a chance to catch my breath. If you do play it, turn on the cheat modes(infinite health and Ammo). Man, that helped alot. I've played it twice already. Its too bad Aeon's original outfit from the animated series isnt in the game. I guess Charlize Theron nixed that idea. Overall, not bad at all.

Being new to the Onimusha world, I was able to review this game without bias. What I found was an interesting and rather in-depth quasi-3D fighter. In this spin-off of the popular series, you select your favorite hero or villain and battle your way thru familiar environments and characters as you strengthen your abilities. For those who are familiar with Super Smash Bros melee, just imagine that Mario became a samurai and the koopas turned into demons. In other words, you can jump in-between the foreground and the background in what is usually 3-4 different tiers; as you pick up various power-ups to aid you in pummeling your foes. What separates this title however, is the rather complex fighting system which includes: charged attacks, guard breakers, critical hit (a timing based attack off your opponent's attack), critical counter, energy push-away, and ready stance are among some of the moves other than the more basic features. This game also maintains a bit of the build-and-acquire element you might find in a RPG, allowing you to upgrade your characters abilities and find new trinkets to help you along.

Fans and newcomers to the Onimusha world will all be able to get a kick out of hacking & slashing thru the game by themselves or being pitted against three of their buddies.

It's a pretty certain fact that when it comes to fun party games the Gamecube is the way to go. However Capcom slipped this little number under everyones nose and the end result is a fun solid title.

Onimusha Blade warriors is essentially a Super Smash Brothers/Powerstone style fighting game using the Onimusha Characters. The story is simple, Nabuyaga is back and wants to conquer the world. Samonuska and Jubei return to take him on along with a cast of other characters ranging from monks to snipers to ninjas. However if the idea of playing a hero doesn't appeal to you than you can play as one of the Demons such as Marceles or a simple Zombie Soldier.

What seperats this from smash brothers (outside of the darker tone) is that you can build up your characters. By making your characters stronger and adding different weapons and accersories you can essentially customize them to your likeing. The buidlup system is simple yet it is creative enough to make the game fun.

However the best part of the game is that a certain Blue Bomber is a hidden cahracter in the game. If you don't understand this reference than play the game and beat it with Samonuske.

Overall this is a fun simple game. For some a renter, for some a purchase, but overall a great party game for the PS2.

The first Backyard Wrestling game (subtitled "Don't Try This At Home") received poor reviews from just about everyone who played it, so you'd expect for Eidos to learn and make a better sequel. Of course, you'd be wrong. Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood (BYW2) is pretty much the same as BYW1, for good and for bad.

The Basics

The game includes 25 playable wrestlers (all unlocked from the start) and 5 CAW slots. Of the 25, only 4 are female: Adrienne Pain, Sunrise Adams (adult film actress), Tera Patrick (adult film actress), and Tylene Buck. The other 21 are male: Andrew WK, El Drunko, Kelvin Finn, Luke Hadley, Madman Pondo, Masked Horn Dog, Messiah, New Jack, Ruckus, Rude Boy, Ryuji Ito, Sandman, Shaggy 2 Dope, Sick Nick Mondo, Sonjay Dutt, Supreme, Vampiro, Vic Grimes, Violent J, and Zandig.

A big problem with the game is that there's very little to do in it. Up to two players can duke it out in a 1-on-1 exhibition match, or a single player can go through the Career mode (you can have up to 10 saved careers). That's it. There's nothing else to do. One of the reasons WWE games are ranked so highly is because they give you a wide variety of match types. This game is just one match type: 1-on-1 hardcore. Although the game tries to give you the impression of variety, the entire game consists of you playing this same exact match over and over and over again. There's no reason a BYW game has to stick to non-ring-based action. Heck, watch the BYW Videos in the game's Media Room and you'll see that 95% of the action in the real-live events takes place in a ring. There should be the following match types: tag team, handicap (not the fight one guy then the other "handicap" match that this game has as it's career finale), lumberjack, steel cage, Hell in the Cell (though they'd have to use a different name since WWE probably has that copyrighted), plus the non-ring hardcore action. In short, everything you see in a WWE game should be here, but with the violence and blood turned up to the EXTREME! The rings should have regular, barb wire, and electrified ropes (player's choice). There should be thumb tacks, barb wire bats, panes of glass (they should be held and set up like tables in a WWE game), and other assorted "ultra-violent" weapons. Tables should not be part of the environment (they're "Enviro-Mental Throws/Attacks" in this game). They should be items you can pick up, place somewhere, stackable, and do moves onto - like you see in the WWE SmackDown! games.

Loading times throughout the game are 15-20 seconds each, but they happen right before every single opponent, plus short ones before going back to the menus. I shutter to think of how many minutes total of loadings you will sit through by the time you're done with Career mode.

Create-A-Wrestler (CAW) sucks, which is sad because you're forced to use it for career mode the first time you play it. There are so few options that I can practically list all of them here. There are only 6 body types: 4 male (athletic, muscular, overweight, slim), 2 female (athletic, muscular) with 16 different skin tones (most of which are useless unless you want funky colored wrestlers). There are 6 different face styles for each gender. There are 7 different hair styles for each gender with 16 different hair colors (again, most are rather funky). In terms of clothing, each gender has 18 upper body (shirts), 18 lower body (pants), and 6 footwear (including bare feet) choices. You can choose two different colors for each, assuming the piece of clothing has a base and a stripe.

Rounding out the CAW options are a few custom logos/tattoos, a limited selection of moves, and 35 mostly useless CAW accessories that you can buy for $200 each in the shop section of Career mode. How useless are they, you may be wondering? Take a look at this list and judge for yourself: Top Hat, Cowboy Hat, Football Helmet, Do Rag, Skater Helmet, Headband, Bowler, Visor, Sun Hat, Beanie, Beret, Headphones, Hard Hat, Baseball Cap, Ear Muffs, Biker's Helmet, Sunset Shades, Round Glasses, 3-D Glasses, Eye Patch, Painter's Mask, Clown Nose, Corn Cob Pipe, Bandage, Big Ears, Tiny Shades, Left Arm Band, Double Elbow Pads, Double Wrist Bands, Gauntlets, Biker Gloves, Bandoleer, Messenger Bag, Backpack, Bow Tie, Single Gun Belt, Double Knee Pads, Shin Guards, Wallet Chain, Tool Belt, Knee Brace, Spurs, Leg Garter, Studded Belt, and Snow Shoes. Nothing says "I'm a hardcore brawler, don't F with me" more than a guy wearing a Bowler hat, 3-D glasses, a clown nose, and a pair of snow shoes. To the game's credit, though, a few of these looked great on a gal wearing the default thong outfit (cowboy hat, biker gloves, and leg garter).

On top of that, you can't even delete CAWs. The best you can do is revert them back to their default appearance and moves, but the CAW slot will still be filled - even after you've deleted your Career save and the CAW no longer has a use. Also, you can't import CAWs from another game save/memory card.

Besides the CAW accessories, the game has a few other unlockables, but they're really not worth the effort to unlock. If you can manage to make it through the game tedious and boring Career mode, you get the option to play it all over again, but this time with one of the in-game wrestlers. Since the story is exactly the same as the first time, there's nothing new to see by playing it again with an established character instead of the CAW you used the first time. As an added bonus, completing Career mode also unlocks all of the "Game Videos" in the Media Room. These are the same video you've seen throughout season mode (actually, each one is unlocked after you view it in the course of your career).

These videos are only marginally better than the ones you can buy from $1000 each in the shop. The five purchasable videos are short highlight reels of these wrestlers: Zandig, Ryuji Ito, Sick Nick Mondo, Vic Grimes, and Sandman. Before you get too excited, you should know that they each run a mere 35-40 seconds and contain no audio at all. In fact, almost all of the "BYW Videos" in the Media Room are 35-40 second audioless highlight reels. These are the same clips shown on the main menu. However, there are more clips shown on the main menu than there are in the Media Room. All of the main menu videos should be viewable in the Media Room, where they're displayed full screen. I, personally, would have rather watched the clips of the ladies (Tylene Buck, Tera Patrick, and Sunrise Adams) in the Media Room than a clip of Andrew WK singing, made pointless by the fact that there's no audio in it.

The only "BYW Videos" that have audio are three relatively short music videos and the promo/newspiece ("Pulse"). I have never seen a wrestling match from BYW or any of the other feds represented in the game. It would have been more beneficial for them to include one or two whole matches, instead of all these pointless, short, and mostly audioless video clips. Maybe *that* would get me interested in buying one of their videos.

The "Pulse" video is a TechTV story about the game and a wrestling event held to promote it several months (?) before its release. One of the game designers proudly mentions that BYW2 was the first wrestling game with confirmed online capabilities. There is no online mode in the final product. Oops!

The design of the different fighting areas is pretty good overall, though of course, some are better than others. I, personally, like the Office because you can break ALL of the cubicles in the middle of the room, and when that's done, you're left with a TON of weapons and one open area to fight in.

Gameplay

The game engine is essentially the same as in BYW1, but with a few additions, such as submission holds and a block button. There's also a new type of environmental attack, appropriately titled an "Enviro-Mental" attack. You can perform these attacks when you have your opponent in a front grapple and you're positioned in the right spots of each fighting area. You'll know when you're in the right spot because an exclamation point inside a triangle will appear on the screen. All you have to do is press the Triangle button and a cutscene will pop up showing you doing an extreme move to your opponent, like powerbombing him through a picnic table, hitting him with beer bottles, or frying his face on a fast food grill.

The problem with the environmental attacks, as with ALL attacks, is that the wrestlers don't sell their moves. They'll pop right back up on their feet as if you just blew air in their face. In WCW Kevin Nash once sold a finger poke to the chest as if he had just gotten hit with a bowling ball, yet here they act like nothing happened if you repeatedly slam their head in the truck of a car. The only time wrestlers act like a move really hurt them, is when they MISS a move that THEY were trying to perform.

One of my biggest grievances about the game engine is that reversals require guesswork, not skill. When in a grapple, you have to guess which of the four face buttons your opponent will use for his next move, and press it before he does his move. This is just like the reversal system introduced in WWE Smackdown Shut Your Mouth in 2002 (in that game it was the four d-pad directions instead of the face buttons). A lot of people apparently hated this system (such as me), and it was changed to a much simpler 2-button method (one for strikes, one for grapples) for the next WWE game in 2003. Why BYW2 would use a reversal system that wasn't even kept for the WWE games is beyond me. (I don't remember if BYW1 used this reversal system or not.)

Career Mode

The meat and potatoes of the single player experience is the Career mode, which replaces the short Talk Show mode from BYW1. The Talk Show mode was boring and repetitive, and guess what? Some things never change.

The story is simple enough: The Backyard Wrestling "federation" has come to your town with a $1 million prize to anyone who can plow through the competition and win all the regional championships.

Career mode consists of ten fighting areas. The first nine are grouped into three sets (or tiers), with the last area being the locale of the finale. Each of the first nine areas contains five "missions" and five "challenges" each, with the last in each tier also containing a Title Tournament. The finale area contains the final five challenges. Thus bringing it to a grand total of 45 missions and 50 challenges, plus 3 title tournaments.

Not everything is unlocked from the start. You need to complete one tier in order to unlock the next, and the tenth and final area is unlocked after the third tier. The game has a rather confusing way of setting this all up, so I'm going to try to explain this as simple as possible. Please try to follow along. I'll use Tier 1 as an example (it contains the Backyard, Trailer Park, and Pool areas). You can play all 15 missions (five per area, remember) in any order you want. However, you must complete all 15 in order to unlock 12 of the 15 challenges (again, five per area) and the Title Tournament in the Pool area (the last area in each tier has the tournament). Completing the tournament (four matches total) not only unlocks the next tier (set of three areas), but also unlocks the three Title Defense challenges in the Backyard, Trailer Park, and Pool areas (one defense per area). If you lose any of the three Title Defense challenge matches, you have to play that tier's tournament all over again to reclaim the belt. This whole procedure of completing all 15 missions and the title tournament is required for all three tiers. It's quite possible that you don't even need to do the Challenges, but I did them anyway, so I can't tell you for certain.

If this all sounds like it makes perfect sense, it's because I explained it to you and you didn't have to figure it out for yourself using the rather disorganized menu in the game. The game doesn't even do anything to signify that you did all the missions and challenges in an area. You'd think they'd put a big X over the locale on the useless "why is it taking up space on the screen" map. Anyway, if you think this doesn't sound so bad, wait until I tell you specifically about the missions and challenges.

MISSIONS

You are given a specific objective for a match or a series of matches. Some of these include: performing a specific number of reversals, using a Weed Whacker three times, or just avoiding your opponents attacks 20 times. For objectives like these, you don't even have to go on to win the match. Once you perform the objective required, you can just quit the match and go on to the next objective. Later in the game, some objectives will require you to win a match within a set period of time, win a match with more or less than a certain percentage of health, or just to fight without using certain moves. Obviously, in these cases, you actually DO need to finish the match.

Some of the missions are downright stupid. No one in the right mind would do what they want you to do in a normal match on purpose. I mean, who really would want to finish a match with less than 10% percent health, if they didn't have to? Since I hate the reversal system (as I've previously mentioned) you can imagine how thrilled I was when I had to reverse 20 moves as one of the mission objectives.

These "Missions" should be in a separate "Challenge" section outside of career ala WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw, with unlockables earned for completing them. They should NEVER have been made a required part of completing career mode.

What makes the missions even harder is that the game doesn't specifically tell you how to complete them. I rented this game, so I had no manual to give me the controls. I had to rely on the information given on the loading screens. While this is good most of the time (and I made sure to write down the controls as fast as I could - though the few screens repeat often enough that you'll get all the info down soon enough), the game has a nasty habit of giving you loading screens that don't relate to the objectives for the match you're about to play, or giving you the information you need AFTER you need it. For example, I played a mission in which I was not allowed to grapple, so guess what information was on the loading screen before the match? Yup, the grapple controls. Better yet, there's a mission in which I had to perform a Guard Break (I believe that's what it was). The game decided not to tell me how to perform the move until *AFTER* I quit the match out of frustration (it was on the loading screen that takes you back to the menu).

CHALLENGES

The five goals almost always are as follows:

* Fight a real wrestler. Sometimes you'll be required to finish him off specifically with a knockout, pin, or submission. On two instances, you will be forced to "hunt" for a specific wrestler: The game will give you several matches with random jobbers, occassionally giving you the wrestler you NEED to fight, and if you beat him three times, you complete the challenge.

* Fight a jobber (a freaky-looking CAW), who will then by replaced with a real wrestler.

* Win three matches in a row.

* Win five matches in a row.

* Defend your title (unlocked only after you win the tournament).

From what I can tell, the challenges are optional, as it doesn't seem like you need to do them to progress in the career (I did them anyway, so I can't say for sure).

The challenges are what should have been required for career mode, as they make more sense within the context of the story.

At this point you should have realized that the "Missions" should have been called "Challenges" and vice versa.

Graphics

The graphics are decent, but nothing more than what's required to get the job done. I've read that they're better than what was in BYW1, but without doing a side-by-side comparison, they don't look that much better to me.

A nice touch is that a wrestler who is repeated pummeled will have blood stains all over his body by the end of the match. Sadly, the blood stains look like someone drew lines on them with red marker. There's no dripping blood, hence why I call them stains.

Sound

Like WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw (SVR), the game features wrestler voice-overs (used in intro/outro cutscenes and a few Career videos only). For the most part, they are done by the real people, though the following use substitutes: Sandman, Vampiro, Kelvin Finn, Ruckus, and Adrienne Pain (I'm not sure if those last three are real people or characters made specifically for the game). Also just like SVR, the voice acting is really bad.

A big problem is that the sounds of impacts, punches, weapons, and the such, all sound very flat and underwhelming. There are also times when a sound effect should be heard, but isn't. This completed undermines any power that a move should have.

Some of the artists on the licensed soundtrack include: Insane Clown Posse, Andrew WK, Kool Keith, Bad Brains, Body Count, and Hoobastank. So if you're into that type of music, you're sure to love the very large soundtrack (there was over two and a half minutes of music listings in the end credits!). I, personally, didn't like the music in the game, so I turned it off. That's not to say the game didn't turn it back on itself every now and then. Speaking of glitches ...

Glitches

I've encountered many of them while playing the game. Some of them are pretty bad and could actually make you lose matches or missions/challenges. Here's a small list.

* Because I don't like the in-game music, I turned it off (by setting the volume to zero). Every now and then, while in Career mode, after a match, as it autosaves my game before going back to the menu, the music would come back on. It stays on while I'm on the menu, only going back off when the match loading screen appears.

* One time in the pool area, and MANY times in the restaurant area, I found my character inexplicably walking by herself towards the bottom of the screen. She would not move in the direction I wanted her to, and would only stop her migration to screen bottom if I held the block button or got into a move with my opponent.

* If doing a move on a ledge (like in the pool area), you may end up doing the move without even touching the opponent. Sometimes both characters will even shake violently like they're having a seizure or something.

* Wrestlers will sometimes fall out of grapples and teleport to standing positions in another part of the fighting area.

* The enemy artificial intelligence is also quite bad, and I don't think it's because I had the AI Difficulty set to Low. Almost every time a match started in the junkyard area, my opponent would run straight to the red van on the right and just keep running into it for a few seconds.

I also came across a glitch that prevented me from getting 100% completion in Career mode. Office: Challenge: Title Defense never becomes selectable (it's always greyed out). I had no problem playing the other eight Title Defense challenges. I completed career mode with 45 out of 45 missions completed and 49 out of 50 challenges completed.

I didn't even get all "opponents seen." I would think that the game would have shown me all of them by the end of career.

Play Time/Replayability

If you use cheat device codes (like Infinite Health & Turbo for Player 1, No Turbo for Player 2), you can probably work through career mode in six to ten hours - if you don't get bored first. If you play it straight, then it'll take a lot longer due to all of the stupid tasks the game forces you to complete. That's if you don't become bored AND overly-frustrated and just give up on the game altogether.

Replayability is practically non-existent for a single player because if you do complete career mode, you will NOT want to play it again with the newly unlocked option to use an in-game wrestler this time. And even if you did, it would be the exact same season you played through the first time.

Of course, two players will get a little more replayability out of the game, but not much more, because there's only so many times you can play a 1-on-1 match against each other before you both get bored. It's not like there's a plethora of areas to fight in, anyway. If you do one match in each area, after 10 matches, you will have seen them all.

Final Recommendation

If you must play this game, RENT IT! It's not worth the $50 asking price for a purchase.

I had reservations about this game. I was always a fan of the 2D originals and Maximum Impact this game's predecessor did not do so well. Sadly many people likely think KOF 2006 is just a repeat of the first 3D outing. In truth it improved many of the cheap broken fighting mechanics of Maximum Impact and added alot of new characters. If you think this is simply a re-tread you are mistaken.

Any kof fan knows it is a fast,furious, combo heavy fighter. If anything KOF 2006 keeps this tradition and plays just like past KOFs though it is in 3D (or what is often termed as 2.5D). Regardless SNK playmore did not gyp its followers. They could have tried making a Tekken clone but instead they stuck with the game-play that makes KOF what it is.

As you expect this game has a story line and a huge slew of unlockables. KOF rarely prided itself on being a simple brawler. It always tries to explain why each character or group of characters are fighting and every flamboyant or dark villian introduced has a deep ulterior motive besides simply hosting a tournament. KOF 2006 likewise keeps to its roots in this regard.

The only negative metal nails driven into KOF 2006 that may make it a dying martyr amongst certain unforgiving fans is there are no team matches and some of the new character designs go a bit too far into left field. At the very least many all time favorites such as Terry,Mai,Billy Kane,Kyo,Iori,Leona,Kula Diamond,K Dash, Ralf, and Rock Howard return easing the blow to the fan-boy or fan girl crotch area a bit.

Besides Story mode and versus mode there are a few fun side games such as smashing vehicles SF style and even facing a metal-slug tank. Many of the unlockable side characters are also neat sich as Fione (cute italian girl from metal slug) and a certain well known ninja from samurai shodown fame. Even Geese can be uncovered. However again the negative down side is like unlockable characters in other SNK games these ones have no story lines. They're fun to play but do not get excited and expect a grand climax. To once again soften another blow to the fan crotch SNK allows you to unlock character profiles with a detailed history of their pasts. This is a literal god send for players new to KOF that need to catch up on the mythos it has estabalished thus far.

KOF 2006 looks "good" but not great. The music however is likely some of the best I've heard in an SNK kof game.

It is possible to beat the game with each character so at the very least it is balanced enough so anyone can jump in and have fun using their favorite fighter.

Fans have had mixed reactions about Falcoon's new fighters. While some are a bit "eccentric" I liked Minon for the very fact she was a klutz and Nagase likewise for the fact she was not so charming and had an abrasive personality. The characters came off as real people because they were in fact flawed and not graceful social butterflies. Speaking of butterflies Luise is hot and enigmatic. I immediatly liked her for her gentle demeanor and hope she gets more appearances in the future.

Though Falcoon may come off as a bit "pompous" with some of his injected fan boyism would you not do the same if you had a chance to work for SNK? I cannot fault the guy for wanting to introduce his own characters. All artists want a small amount of self expression and freedom to be alloted to them. At least Falcoon's characters are not invincible behemoths that have no personal faults. Give the guy a break, aye?

If you are open minded enough and tolerant enough you'll love this game. As fighters go you can do alot worse and not much better. (Though yes there are a few better fighters out there.)

Once I compared KOF 2006 to that cute girl next door with braces that helps you with your home-work. She does not look like a super model but she is still attractive and on top of that has a big heart willing to give alot in a relationship. KOF 2006 is not a perfect fighter but it is a deep fighter with alot of hidden content and extras to keep you playing for a very long time! On top of that you cannot beat the price!

the game itself was a very enjoyable experience, just the fact that by the time I was done playing the game, I had blisters the size of pancakes on my thumb. The reason for this is because the game's character movement is done with the D-pad rather than the analog sticks, and since the combos are mostly divised of sliding your thumb all over the pad, it WILL hurt after awhile. but overall, a good game.

This is a good fighting game with excellent graphics. Nice stories, and some good extras. It has a lot of different characters. However, this game very much has a 3D feel, instead of a 2D one, so if you are someone who has mastered certain combos with certain characters in the King of Fighters series, you will find that the mechanics don't work the same in this game. It is still a good game, though, and it certainly advances the story for a number of characters.

Guilty Gear is 2d fighting at its best and most frustrating. As a button masher this game is ok, but you shouldn't be buying it unless you are serious about learning how to play fighting games at a non-scrub level.

Each character is unique, the visuals are great and fun and the gameplay is fast paced. Watch some YT videos to get an idea of what high level play looks like. The combos are a joy to watch and pull off. Once you purchase you'll want to visit dustloop.com for much needed supplemental info.

If you aren't super familiar with thinking of fighters in terms of frames of invulnerability, mixups, frame advantage, etc. Do yourself a favor and buy a simpler 2d fighter like Capcom v SNK2 or a Street Fighter title and once you've mastered high level play pick up GG.

I am left to ponder how many people played Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear X, and Guilty Gear X-2. Those wonderful games built up high expectations for sprite designs,beautiful 2D graphics, great fighting physics, and a stirring epic story tailored around odd yet awesome characters that are tributes to various rock stars and heavy metal musicians.

In a futuristic apcolypse magic is once again reality and scentist created "gears" to fight the battles of mankind. Gears are genetically enhanced life forms of immense power but as expected they were not so easily controlled. This caused a futuristic crusade as humans sought to slay all rebelling gears in order to save humanity. No, the plot was not the most original thing ever (especially if you've watched alot of anime) but it was well executed and the individual characters had alot of depth and personality.

Guilty Gear X-2 even introduced "story mode" in which each character had up to three endings. Like in a psychadelic Silent Hill chapter you could get a good conclusion, a bad conclusion, and a weird "wtf" conclusion. This encouraged people to play through Guilty Gear X-2 many times even when there were no other friends around for versus competition.

So now we come to Accent core. What is accent core? Essentially it is Guilty Gear X-2 with more characters. Sadly at least 2 characters are just odd knock offs of pre-existing heroes (Holy order Sol and Robo Ky) and for some idiotic reason Accent core gutted the story line out completly. This was a very bad decision. I loved Aba for example and though players may know about her past from other games they'll be left in the dark if this is their first Guilty Gear.

The game as always demands you play hard. Guilty gear's fighting system is very in depth with air dashes, special moves, instant kills, and cancels. Looking at the chaos on screen is like seeing Arcana Heart after it reaches puberty and grows up into one sexy and hot specimen. For those that had problems with Arcana Heart's slow speed this is a welcome alternative. Things go alot faster in Accent Core.

However this game fools you. Sure you have alot of characters. Yes, it is fun to play "IF" friends are over. However it is hollow on the inside. It is re-packaging Guilty Gear X-2 only with far less content. Worst of all accent core tries to say "I'm only for da hardcore fighters!" which is insulting to the fighting community. It assumes us fighting fans are happy with nothing more than blatant eye candy and the bare bones basics. It assumes we do not love characters enough to give two craps about how they develop as people, what relationships they get into, or what surprising turns they must face on the road to self discovery.

I don't care who disagrees with me. I had Guilty Gear X-2 and it was a far superior product to this mere pale shadow of its original greatness. If you are a guilty gear fan please demand the next installation in the series recaptures the awe of the original games. Let these people know your not going to settle for this travesty.

The stories of Axl,Dizzy,Testament,May,Johnny,Zato, Millia rage,Ky,Sol,Anji,Baiken,Jam,Chipp,Slayer,Potemkin,Bridgett,Faust,I-no, Kliff,and Justice are left on the way side yet to be finished. This game teases us with mere illusions of the heroes and villians that made the series so great yet it uncovers nothing more about them. All you do is beat the crap out of pixels until you get a hasty "congradulations" and a piece of concept art. That is NOT an ending.

Bottom line is if you just want this game for tournaments against friends it is likely one of the best purchases you can get so long as you love 2D fighters. However if you are like me and love Guilty gear for its deep death metal symbolism and rock opera style of story telling this game will disappoint you to no end.

Guilty Gear already had a solid game mechanics (albeit some balance issues). You can literally see that the developers tried their best to incorporate criticisms and feedbacks accumulated from previous versions. However, removing any type of ending for Story Mode was quite shocking and dissapointing. The addition of two new characters were cool at first, but both A.B.A and Order Sol isn't as fun as I would imagined to be. While fixing what was broken, the Aksys changed something that created a new hybrid, no longer same as the original.

The battles are still fast and fun.

When I got the UFC game I did not know what to expect. When it actually came to my house I found that the game play was amazing the only problem I have with it is that the story line is kinda lame you can only go through training for 3 years and after that you cant max out your character. I know that it would be really hard to make a UFC game that stands up to what the sport can provide but this game is no where near what it should be. If nothing else at least use all the buttons on the controller! There are four buttons that don't do anything, in a UFC based game every button and every button combination should do something. There is no stamina system to it at all. Opponents are just as easy or as har to knock out in the first round as they are in the third. If you or your opeeonent lands a submission it's tapout city immediatly with no chance of fighting out of it. Each fighter has two kicks two punches and one to three combos that they can throw over and over and over in a monotonous street fighter without special moves way. Most of my matches end in the first round. I know it a small thing but it bothers me that at the end of a match Bruce Buffer doesn't say "and the winner in the first round by TKO" he just says for the winner and the name. It lacks so much. The graphics are decent and there are a lot of fighters to choose in a weird there's only three fighting styles way. The story mode is horrible you do something for three seconds, loading screen, three seconds, loading screen. It looks like they were going to put in some minni games but got lazy and instead just have a little text that says fighting or running or training and then an obligatory you win or lose. I can't believe UFC would put it's name on it.

Snk-Playmore seems to be one of the last companies to be releasing these old-school compilations. I'm personally glad that they are archiving the legendary Neo-Geo collection thru these releases.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of the Art of Fighting series. Just couldn't really get into it like some other fighting games; however, I still enjoyed it from time to time.

This compilation is a no-frills "direct to video" port from the Neo-Geo. You get all three original AOF games without any touch-ups or additions. Some might berate that tactic, but I don't mind it au natural.

You get three original Neo-Geo fighters, that went for about $200 each back in the day, for around $10 or less. Don't like 2D sprite-based fighters? Then go look elsewhere. Otherwise, you've come to the right place for some SNK nostalgia.

I always believed that the Art of Fighting series were badly underrated. It never really caught on like the Fatal Fury or later the Samurai Shodown series. But it did had its merits nevertheless from the hugh characters to the sprit meter which limits how often you can special moves to the graphic scaling.

All 3 games in the series are 100% versions of the arcade ports. Sadly, SNK Playmore didn't bother to do more like tighten up the controls in the 1st. Art of Fighting game (I'm still having problems exucuting Robert's Lighting Kick, the Haoh Sho Koh Ken & the Ryuko Ranbu). The second game improves on this, but its best to play with another player as it's tough, even on Easy mode. AoF 3 is the best looking of the series. It plays a little like Virtual Fighting (despite the fact that it's still 2-D. SNK planned to make Aof 3 in 3-D. But I guess the Neo*Geo couldn't handle 3-D graphics).

If you're an old school gamer like myself & like fighting games, this collection is at least worth a rental.

It's been a few years since the bundle came out and I agree with all the positive reviews. I got this recently and love it! The only thing that I can add is when playing the 2002 disc you need practice and patience. Die hard fans already know this but new fans might not realize it. Now I've played KOF games that came after this bundle as well as other fighting games from other companies. Their special moves, super moves and desperation moves were fairly easy to do. In this game you have to be exact as far as inputs and timing. For a while I thought that I had a defective game because I also knew that my controllers were working. I had to go online to get info since none of my friends played KOF and found this to be the case. The HSDM's (Hidden Super Desperation Moves or simply MAX2 moves) on the 2002 disc are fun to watch. You need to have 20% or less on your life bar, have at least 2 bars filled and have MAX mode activated. Once you correctly input the move you can watch the animation. This game has the most personality that I've seen in any game. The large roster of fighters makes sure that you won't be bored. I definitely recommend this pack if you want to try something new and don't mind the learning curve.

If you like 2-D fighting games and have a chance to pick this collection up... do it! It's awesome.

Lately at the local Gamestops I've picked up a bunch of different 2-D fighting games on the cheap side. This one (specifically King of Fighters 2002) is my favorite.

I'm good at fighting games. I went through King of Fighters 2003 in a half an hour; beat it on my first try. Much like King of Fighters 2006. Similarly, I found the Street Fight Anniversary Collection, and the Fatal Fury Battle Archives not worth many playthroughs. I even tried one of the Guilty Gear games (Isuka), but found it overrated with wonky controls (have to manual turn your character around in 2D?).

Now let me sing the praises of King of Fighters 2002. It has over 40 playable characters, and a few more you can unlock. It has a survival mode. It has a team battle mode (arcade and versus). The final boss in Arcade mode is really, really hard (this was a plus for me), but I finally managed to beat him with a 3-person team including Kula Diamond. You get the same boss in both Arcade and Team Arcade, but he is easier in team mode because you don't need to win 2 out of 3 against him. Still haven't beaten him in normal Arcade mode.

That's not all... the best part about KoF 2002 is Challenge mode. There are 40 Challenges. Each of them is beat X Fighters in YY seconds. For example early you get something like 'beat 3 fighters in 150 seconds.' These are fun, and the later ones are HARD. I've probably played King of Fighters 2002 for at least 20 hours, just doing the challenge modes. For me, this meant the game was a great investment.

Your mileage may vary, but I had a lot of fun with this game (and continue doing so), and recommend it.

For anyone who's ever played king of fighters this is a highly recommended package.

2002 is more or less a "best of" king of fighters from the past 10 years. Even the most jaded of players will find some of their favorite characters here with over 44 to choose from. The fighting system is great, and has more depth than most fighters on the market today.

2003 puts a slightly new spin on the series, and introduces a tag system which is refreshing to see. Some of the older character sprites have been updated, and some new characters have been introduced as well. All in all '03 seems to be a stepping stone for a new direction in which the series is going.

This package is great investment for those of you who want to kill some time with classic fighting, and as always praise to SNK Playmore for keeping this series alive in the ever growing trend of thoughtless eye-candy type games.

Alright, now we got King of Fighters 2000 and 2001 released for PlayStation2. Now please, I'm begging you SNK, release your old classic titles for PlayStation 2! Especialy the Samurai Shodown series! I tell you something...you just don't get games like SNK anymore now a days. When I was a kid, I absolutely fell in love with the SNK games, but no one I knew could afford the insanely expensive Neo-Geo at the time. The used Neo-Geo systems and games are now even more expensive then they were first released. SNK has seriously entered into a cult status, with some really freaky fans that I unfortunaley talked to on some SNK fan sites. The bottom line is that SNK must RETURN and rule again!

Back when fighting games ruled the arcades-back when there were arcades-the battle for quarters was never fiercer than the one between SNK and Capcom. Capcom may have refined tag-team fighting with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and other titles, but SNK started the trend in 1994 with the first King of Fighters title. King brought together fighters from some of SNK's most popular franchises-most notably Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting-for team-based combat. Issued as a two-disc set, this KOF features pixel-perfect arcade ports of the 2000 and 2001 offerings, and both are a nostalgic throwback to the days of old-school 2D sprite-fighters, where two-in-ones and cross-ups rule, and it isn't uncommon to rack up 13 hits in a single move. Some console-exclusive features have also been included, such as unlockable extra fighters and other goodies exclusive to this home release. KOF 2000's 35-fighter lineup is slightly outnumbered by 2001's 40-fighter roster, but several characters share all-too-familiar move sets. By today's standards, these games probably won't mean much to gamers who grew up on the combo flow-charts of Tekken and Soul Calibur, but these King games are nevertheless very playable thanks to responsive controls and intuitive easy-to-execute moves. If you're a diehard fanatic of 2D fighting games, take the Fun Factor up a notch.

Yet another fighting game representing the Dragon Ball Z series, Super Dragon Ball Z does little to distinguish itself from its fellow DBZ games.

The game is mostly similar to other games in the DBZ universe. Based on an arcade game, the style of the game very much reflects this origin. There are 18 characters (five of whom need to be unlocked) representing most of the main characters in Dragon Ball Z. Each character differs slightly in terms of their four stats (attack, throw, ki - or energy - and "action"). The characters themselves do not differ drastically, though many have unique gimmicks (such as Trunks' sword, or Piccolo's stretching arms). Even their energy attacks are mostly generic, except for one or two signature attacks per character. In this regard, it is more similar to regular fighting games than other Dragon Ball Z games. Besides the standard attacking and blocking, the characters can also jump - holding down the button makes you levitate. This is better executed than some other DBZ games, namely the first Budokai, but on the whole air fighting is difficult to pull off.

There are 7 stages, each with several of the features familiar to DBZ fans - breakable objects and the ability to go to new parts of the stage by smashing through walls and floors. These locales are nothing special for the most part, and are the same ones used in every other DBZ game.

Unlockable items in the game are "wished" using the 7 Dragon Balls, which are collected in story mode. Everything from new moves to stat upgrades to new characters and levels to even a few extras like new outfits and game data is unlocked with the Dragon Balls, meaning that they must be collected every time you want to unlock something.

The graphics have a neat, cel-shaded quality that is done a little better than the cel shading in the other DBZ fighting games; this is perhaps the only advantage the game holds. The backgrounds, however, are mostly terrible. The audio is standard, using the same voice actors that have been in every single DBZ game, movie, and tv show episode since it came to the US.

Most of the features in this game are done more thoroughly, and better, in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai and its sequels. As an arcade game, this might have been all right, but it really didn't need to be ported like this.

ok,this game is better than sagas,a lot better,not quite on par with budokai 2 or 3 but about as good as budokai 1 i would say.the character list is very poor there are like maybe 20 people.but they do give you king picolo and chi chi who have never been available before to my knowledge on any other dbz game.one good thing is that they give vegeta a black outfit for once,ive always wanted to see that.

now for the good...

u unlock most anything by collecting the dragonballz and wishing for it which is pretty easy,u set it on original mode beat 7 ppl and and u make a wish at the dragon summoning mode.

now,the controls,there not really that hard to learn but real hard to master i still cant get a galick gun off just whenever i want too i get it maybe every other time at best.

the in between...

the graphics,while not bad,arnt that good either.they kinda of well comic book cartoon looking.

and at last the bad...

frieza is very hard to beat,hes next to last in original mode,but the hardest to beat,cell isnt as hard and he is last.moves are kinda hard too do,like super saiyan ive never seen anything wrong with pushing the r1 and r2 buttons to do it,on hear i cant ever do it,and even one u do get it right i swear is lasts no more than 15 seconds and it wears off.

but it is fun to play,and u really dont even need super saiyan that much anyway

You know since there are next generation consoles coming out (which one of them is already out), I just wanted to see which game I wanted to make my last PS2 game, and I saw that Atari is coming out with another DBZ game and I just felt like making this my last game because Dragon Ball Z is something I liked since I was 13 and DragonBallZ has always been the best classic Anime around and now with the PS3, The Nintendo Wii coming out in November, and the system that is already out the XBOX 360, this was the best choice I have made since I am a huge DBZ fan. I give Super Dragon Ball Z (my last PS2 game) a 4 out of 5.

This game was good kinda the samething like part1 but with more characters and more stages. So what the storymode was a board game it was still fun but the part when you face kid buu was hard he was a challenge but i beat him, i beat this game long time ago, i beat all the DBZ games that came out, but this was a fun game. That untill budokai3 came out that was the best DBZ game in the budokai series, but this was fun to.

Jeff, I have to disagree with you on this one. I like the game alot. I enjoyed the new characters and the movies are pretty easy to exicute. The power up system is nice as well. Things are not to hard to find or buy to make your Gohan as powerful as he can be. Well worht the buy especialy at the greatest hit price on all systems of 19.99. Soon as gamecube comes out with #3 I might get it, who knows.

This game is the second in the Dragonball Z Budokai series. Fortunately it features all the sagas from the Saiyan Saga to the Kid Buu Saga. It has more characters than the first one, but not all of them. This game also features special fusion characters, including Kaioshin, Tiencha, and Gokule, which can only be obtained by gathering the Dragonballs, in Dragon World.

Pros:

1. It has all of the sagas

2. More combos

3. More characters

4. A few more transformations (Goku can now go to Super Saiyan 2, and 3, and Vegeta can go to Super Saiyan 2)

5. Some of the combos are easier to pull off now.

Cons:

1. They really did a screwed up job on the Cell Shading

2. The new Story Mode is a board Game!!!!!

3. Some of the fusion characters are a little hard to get

4. When you see some of the characters close up they don't look anything like they're supposed to

5. Most of the combos are the same as in the first game (this one is for those people who prefer variety)

I will end this by saying what the title says: If you are thinking about getting this game pass, and only get it if you desperately want to complete the series. It is not worth the fifty dollars you spend.

After the best DBZ game ever hit stores, a year later DBZ Budokai 2 entered the building. Budokai 2 is the sequel to the best DBZ game ever. If you played the original DBZ Budokai, then you wont be surprised by the world tournament, dueling, edit skills, practice, and options modes. Two new modes have entered the game. One is called the Dragon World which is like the story mode played like a board game and as always fighting along the DBZ storyline. In the Dragon World there is a story, but its told in a very different way. If you watch the animated series, you will notice a couple errors in the story like when Babidi brought Frieza and Cell back to life. In the anime, it never happened, its just in the game. The other new mode is a secret. It can only be unlocked by wishing for it from the Dragon Balls. In case you need to know what its called, the secret mode is called Babidi's Spaceship. Besides the better graphics and inprovements to the fightin system, the practice mode has changed. In addition to the practice mode, there is a training mode which is like a tutorial of the game with the Z Fighters telling Goten the basics of this game. Besides the inaccuracy of the story in the Dragon World mode, this game is fun and definately is worthy of being called the next best DBZ game ever.

"Great Collection" 2009-12-27

I don't own this bundle, but I have all three games that are included. I will describe this game one by one.

Tekken Tag Tounament- This game is a lot like the 3 before it. At the select screen, you choose two fighters (I usually went with Hwoarang and Yoshimitsu) and at any time in the fight you can tag your character to fight. First one down determines the fight. You have an option to play the classic style of fighting.

Tekken 4- This game is my favorite in the series (haven't played Tekken 6 yet). This introduced boundaries to stages so you can corner your enemy and beat them down. What makes this one different from the others is that you can move (not attack) before the fight is announced. You will have a lot of fun with this one.

Soul Calibur 2- This is by far the best game in the bundle. This is like Tekken but you have different weapons to play with. Yoshimitsu is also in the series. In this game they had characters specific to which version you buy, the PS2 version had Heihachi (from Tekken again), the Gamecube version had Link (Legend of Zelda), and I forgot which one was on the Xbox version. As you progress through the game, you unlock different weapons to fight with. They are the same kind of weapon the character is used to, but they have different abilities. One will have less attack and gain back lost health while another one inflicts more damage while your health slowly drains away.

I would recommend getting this if you have never played any of these games, or if you traded them in and want to play them again.

Wow was I surprised when I played this!!! the selection of monsters is HUGE also great destructable environments! power up's and tons of extras to keep you coming back for more. godzilla hasn't looked this great ever in motion picture history with all the Great Sound Effects of the creatures! definately a sweet fighter, a great godzilla game and wonderfully done my only gripe was the lock on system, its a tad off because when you "lock on" and launch a special attack like breat weapon etc it does NOT auto aim at the target you MUST be facing the target to hit it with a lock on otherwise a Stellar title!

I don't have anything actually NEW to say about this game. If you have sought this out because you want to (a) be Godzilla and battle all the other monsters in the G-verse (and smash a pleasant variety of cities in the process) or (b) want to battle Godzilla and the other monsters AS one of the other monsters, you really won't be disappointed.

Really good graphics, easy-to-learn controls... What more could you ask for?

This is a fight game, nothing more, but it doesn't try to pretend it's anything more. Mash the buttons fast and laugh with your friends who are either watching you play or playing with you.

Good, clean fun for anyone in the room!

I'm not a big fan of fighting games: where two characters fight against each other until one of their life line's is depleted. But throw in the fact it's a Dragonball Z fighting game, and suddenly, fighting is fun. I really like playing this game for reasons unknown (perhaps it has something to do with me being able to beat main bad guys with Krillin in a few blows ;-) hee hee). The graphics are pretty cool, and I really like the fact the original cast also voices the characters in the game (you can also play in the original Japanese!)

So, all in all, I enjoy this game and look forward to playing the others.

How good is Budokai Tenkaichi for the PS2? Extremeley! The graphics are excellent, and the gameplay rocks! I've played some good Street Fighter games before, but they are nothing compared to this. There are many game modes, and none of them are too hard to beat. The amount of characters are so many they are uncountable! One can play hours and hours of this game and not get bored or tired. The only bad thing is how hard Frieza is. I've fought him ten or twelve times, and I still haven't beaten him! But other than that the game rocks. A MUST-HAVE FOR DBZ FANS!!!!!

Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi is a three-dimensional fighting game involving a ton of Dragonball Z characters - even ones only seen briefly in the series.

The graphics are really the standout improvement here from previous Dragonball Z games. They do a great job of really maxing out the capabilities of the PS2. Not only are the cut scenes great, but the main gameplay features *giant* maps, with multiple terrain types (water, mountains, plants and more). You can move up to higher ground, draw your enemy into the lake to slow them down, and use other tactics. It makes the game much more like "playing in the Dragonball Z world" vs being a side-scrolling fighter.

The sound is definitely enhanced over previous versions, too. You can now choose to have the Japanese voices for your characters. It's ironic that in early days of gaming, games would come with only Japanese voices and US people would complain because they wanted to hear English. Nowadays we appreciate the language much better. By giving you the option, you can use whichever suits you best.

That's not to say that *all* sound in the game is stellar. They definitely could have included a more robust musical soundtrack - and general commentary. It often seems like those things are overlooked in fighting games, but if you're a fan and playing the game for multi hours a day, pretty much every day of the week, it wears on you quickly.

For actual gameplay, as mentioned, the maps are great. They have tons of characters which is really wonderful. It's fun to see some of the more obscure characters they included in the set. The movements and animations are great. However, the *controls* to get them to do things - and the skill of the AI at doing the same moves - are really unbalanced. We have played thousands of games on all systems over our reviewing career and there is just something not right about the combat controls here. So while you're struggling to get the combos activated, the enemy you're fighting is zipping through them smoothly and trouncing you. This is something you can "deal with" if you're patient and into the series - but if you're not an avid gamer, I can see someone getting frustrated very quickly and not playing the game again.

I'm all for having games that are difficult! I enjoy the challenge. But a game should be difficult because you are ramping up in technique. It shouldn't be difficult because the combo you typed in isn't accepted, or the key strokes react sluggishly so that your character dies before your commands are "heard".

Definitely a big step in the right direction - I really hope #2 takes care of a lot of these control issues. If they do, that will be a 5/5. For this version, I'll give it a 4/5 as a great game but with some issues.

My cousin had this game and I decided to try it out (well he told me to) and I quickly began to love it. Never in my life had I seen gameplay that intense (it was intense because I always fought my cousin and he always owned me) and lifelike. Of course when I left his house I bought it myself. The game still proved an entertainment. But after I beat the game there were really no goals. The dueling was fun but it quickly got boring! Soon I put the game down altogether. Then my cousin got Tenkiachi and I realized this game was garbage compared to this game. The charecter is more lively and he doesn't have to stand around getting hit all day, he can run. The powers are very diverse and you can actually charge up the kamehameha and reposition it so your cousin doesn't take a quick sidestep and hit you with his kamehameha. The thing I liked the best was that you could fly at will instead of being punched into the air. Bottom line, this game is fun for a while but after you beat the story the funs out of it, unless you want to get hit out of the tournament arena ten thousand times (which made me want to take the game and throw it into the garbage.) If your playing this because you love DBZ you won't be dissapointed because the story is very well portrayed (meaning it actually has cutscenes.) So if you just love games with awesome cutscenes this is your game. But if you like fighting pick up Tenkaichi 2 (not 1 that one sucks!) :)

This game is good. It has alot of good sides and downsides. This game isn't the best fighting game around, so if you don't really care for DBZ and just want fighting, this game is not for you. The controls are alittle hard to get used to, and the story mode is fun, but it takes some practice. This game has the voices from the show, so that's good if you're a DBZ fan. I know I'm a DBZ fan. There's a tournoment mode, but only for 1 player. You start off with only very little charactors, but as you complete chalanges in story mode, you get more charactors. The story mode is the best mode,I'd say. Overall, this game gets a 3/5

Dragonball Z Budokai, in my honest opinion, is the most polished game out of all the Budokai console games. While I say that it's the most polished game, that doesn't mean it is the best(that honor lies in Budokai 3). Dimps went above and beyond their duties to give Dragonball Z fans a game that captures the look and feel of the series. Fans get a chance to relive some of their favorite episodes in story mode and that, in itself, is why I say it is the most polished. There's 23 DBZ characters to choose from, seven modes to try, familiar locations for fighters to fight in....as well as unlockable goodies and more. The one important feature that, I think, makes this game shine is the skill edit feature. With the skill edit feature, players can customize their characters, their fighting techniques, and their abilities(such as healing, etc.). Serious fighting fans and advanced gamers will definitely get into that feature, I assure you.

Story mode, while grand in it's presentation, could have been alot longer that it was. As it stands, though, it was short and sweet & left me wanting more.

This first game showed alot of promise and is a game that not only fighting game fans but Dragonball Z fans will have fun with.

Here comes the pain in my opinion is THE best wrestling video game i have ever played. i dont really care too much for the current wrestling games becuase this one had almost everything i wanted.

first let me start off that I bought the game when it first came out, but then i guess i played it so much that it just stopped working, so i bought it a second time. my second one stopped working too, so NOW i'm searching for a third one thats not so expensive. I would NOT buy a used one becuase i think for some reason after a while, the game just kind of gives out. its like it will refuse to work if its already been used up or something. Me and even my sister bought used ones and both of them didnt work. so i highly suggest you buy a NEW one. but like i said before, it guess its just one of those games that acts up. its weird. i dont know if its just the games i happen to pick out or something, but yea...

the graphics are pretty nice, they are not as great as the current video games but they are pretty impressive. To be honest i only play wrestling games to make up my own created suspertars and then play them in season mode. my sister and I would bend over laughing to death when we wrestle as our own suspertars. i LOVE the created suspertar mode becuase you create your own characters the way YOU want them to be and give them your own moves. there are tones of outfits, accessories and even designs to choose from.

The way the characters move, i would give a B+ becuas their bodies move and bend in the way that they should after a move or getting hit with a weapon. when you use a finisher move, jump off the tunbuckle or hit your wrestlers with weapons, the scene will sort of do a blurry slow-motion scene for you. its really awesome.

The season is pretty long, and pretty entertaining, i dont think the wrestlers speak in this one, but its STILL really good. you do get to add female wrestlers (even female created susperstars) into season mode, but they can't wrestle, they can only be like a manger, but there is one Match that you can let them have when they are in a rival with another group.

The backstage area are fantastic, you get to outside in the streets and climb the building thats across from the arena, there's a parking lot, there are MANY places you can go (its been years since i played the game i can't remember.) Smackdown here comes the pain is THE LAST werstling video game that allows divas and female created susperstars to go backstage. in THIS game the female wrestlers can do just about everything that the male wrestlers can, whether its slobber knocker, hell in the cell, elimination chamber match. i think the only thing they can't do is First Blood.

I LOVE the game soo much i wish i had many copies in my posession. i LOVE it!!!

The In-ring & Menu themes rock! i like listening to every single of them.

WWE Smackdown- Here Comes the Pain

The fifth installment in the dynasty that went on to become Smackdown VS Raw doesn't disappoint in it's best game yet. Here Comes the Pain (HCTP) fixes almost all of the mistakes that WWE Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth had. This wrestling game is a perfect fit for anyone that hates the tunnel vision story mode of WWE Smackdown vs Raw and the games that followed in the franchise. In many people's eyes, this is the best Smackdown game ever produced. Many also believe that this is the greatest wrestling game of all time.

Graphics- 9/10

Bill Goldberg looks exactly like Bill Goldberg in real life. Lesnar looks exactly like Lesnar. The Rock looks exactly like The Rock. Everyone in the game looks exactly like they do in real life. There is no excessive shining on the wrestlers like there is in the newer Smackdown VS Raw games. One complaint I have is that Triple H looks horrendous. THQ can never seem to accurately model Triple H. This is a big step up from Shut Your Mouth, which looks fairly bad as far as graphics are concerned. Also, to top it all off, there is barely any loading time.

There are very few graphical glitches in the game, but they don't really affect your gameplay. If you do a move to someone on a table, but you fall off before the move is executed, you will find your opponent still having the move to him in mid-air. This is minor and everything is fine after the move is finished.

Created wrestlers still look fairly bad. With the right amount of time and a good online guide, you can recreate just about anyone. If you are the type of person that hates spending hours trying to adjust little, tiny details, you will end up will an average looking CAW (Create-A-Wrestler) with not much about him/her.

The moves and animations all look stunning. Nothing seems unrealistic or too bland. This is wonderful considering the sheer amount of animations the have in this game. If your character wants to do a chokeslam, there are multiple different animations of that move for you to use. This allows you to have varied CAWs.

Story- 9/10

Story mode in recent WWE games have been considered interesting, but not worth playing though more than once. This game was before voice-over was put into WWE's games, so you will not be trapped into and linear storylines. There are storylines, but any wrestler can be apart of them, not just the ones that have Voice Over for it.

There are some extremely interesting storylines that you will play though during Season mode. You may have a manager of your choosing and someone is trying to steal her from you. You may be working for Mr. McMahon, or you might choose to oppose him. You might just be going for the Tag Team Titles. It really depends on where your character is on the card.

There are no limits as to where a wrestler can be on a card either. If you want to play as Ultimo Dragon and win the World Championship, it is possible. If you want Lesnar to go for the Hardcore Title, go right on ahead. The storyline is very flexible, but there is just enough of it to keep you playing over and over again.

Sound- 8/10

There is no voice over in this game at all. So don't expect commentary or your favorite superstars to speak their mind. There is no licensed music in the game either. I personally am glad, because those songs get repetitive and commentary is usually lackluster. Instead you have a techno/rock/rap remix type soundtrack through the game. It is nice on the ears and isn't repetitious.

In-game sound effects all sound decent. The Big Show's Chokeslam still have a slamming sound before the opponent is even slammed. Most of the other sounds in the game are done realistically.

Gameplay- 10/10

Usually this is all that matters in making a game good or bad, the gameplay. Here Comes the Pain has created the perfect arcade wrestling style game. Matches are fast-paced and full of exciting moments. A new grappling system has been created just for this game and it works to perfection. Instead of only being able to do 4 moves, your character can use 16 moves now.

The roster in this game is the best in years. You have favorites like Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Triple H, The Rock, Steve Austin, and many more. Then you have tons of smaller level superstars like: Matt Hardy, Ultimo Dragon, Rhyno, Test, and many more. Also, after gaining them through Season mode, you will gain Legends like: Roddy Piper, Road Warriors, Ted Dibiase, and again you will get many more. This is one of the most balanced rosters you can find. It doesn't matter what type of wrestler you like because they are all here.

Match types are vast as they are in all WWE games. This is the first time that the Elimination Chamber match is playable though, and boy is it fun. You get all your normal cage matches, Last Man Standing matches, and other WWE matches. You also get to play the new Bra and Panties match, which is fun for a play or two. These matches will allow up to six players at the maximum. This creates a ton of multi-player goodness.

Season mode is very well done. You can choose who you want in Season mode, and you can choose what Roster everyone is one. This means you can actually make Brock Lesnar and Triple H on the same roster finally. You don't always have a storyline in Season mode. Sometimes you can just drop by the General Manager's office and pick up a title shot assuming your Superstar Points are high enough. This is very fun and enjoyable.

The game's AI is nearly perfect. I have only noticed a few glitches in cage match and ladder matches; they will sometimes just sit and watch you win the match. This rarely happens though, and they are usually wonderful.

Difficulty- 9/10 (Note- This is how much I like the difficulty)

The game itself is not that hard when it's on normal mode. You won't dominate everyone, but it's pretty easy to not lose. On the other hand, Legendary difficulty is extremely hard. Superstars will reverse almost every single move you do until they finally hit their finisher and win the match. It takes a ton of practice to even get close to being good enough to win a match on Legendary.

Brock Lesnar, who happens to be the game's cover boy, is probably the hardest wrestler to beat on the game. He dominates nearly everyone in his path within a matter of a few moves. When you think about it though, you can always play as him and dominate if you want. He's be a good choice for your first play through.

Overall- 9.5/10

This is my favorite WWE game, and I've played No Mercy. Nothing can touch the gameplay mechanics and the sheer fun of changing around your rosters in Season mode. If you haven't experienced this game yet, I suggest you give it a try.

Firstly I would like to say that I am a long-time fan of the Dragonball Z series, and even though it took me a while, I later became a fan of Naruto, since it has been described by some as "The next Dragonball Z." In the same way, I have also been a fan of the DBZ Budokai/Budokai Tenkaichi video game series, and now I am trying to switch to the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series. My first impression of the game when I bought it was that it was a mix of Street Fighter, and Super Smash Bros. with a hint of DBZ influence. I had assumed that on a console like the Playstation 2 the game would at least be a 3-D fighter, but it is solely a two-dimensional game. It took some getting used to but in the end this feature might be what makes this game unique, so I'm not entirely against it. The biggest shock to me was that the attack button is circle, when in almost every other game out there, the attack button is square. But these are just minor details that overall do not detract from Ultimate Ninja's appeal.

Even though the game is based on the anime, the graphics make the game look like it was based on the manga. As I am a manga fan before I am an anime fan, this feature was a big plus in my book. The secret techniques are the best example of this aspect, because the cel-shading is done even more heavily here. The effect is that the scenes look like they were drawn with ink and paper, rather than simulated by a computer. I was highly pleased with this little bonus.

Now I'll look at the actual gameplay. There are three modes, and a training mode in the game to play through. The first is story mode, which takes you through the story of Naruto, up to slightly past the Chunin Exams. The twist is that you are only able to go through one character's story at a time, a problem they fixed in Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2. In between fights, the cutscenes are simply avatars of the two characters involved in the battle, who talk to each other. I was very disappointed with this, and thought that the producers could have done a much better job. I also didn't like to beat the story mode about ten times, but it didn't take me that long to do so.

The next mode is mission mode, in which you fight in a variety of battles with certain win conditions. These conditions get progressively harder, with every mission you complete, and every rank you progress. The easiest are battles which you have to win within a certain time limit. The harder ones are ones in which you can only use techniques in the air, and maintain a full chakra meter.

Finally the last mode is versus mode. This is my favorite mode, because it is nothing but what a true DBZ fan like me wants: fighting. The controls are fairly straight-forward, circle is attack, x is jump, square is a projectile attack, and triangle initiates a secret technique. Up, or down and x change the plane of fighting, L2, and R2 both block, and R1, and L1 scroll through your choice of projectiles. At the start of the match both players start with one full bar of health, and a full chakra meter. The chakra meter is used for either chakra attacks (every character has two), or secret techniques (each character has three). Secret Techniques are the most fun to play through, because they involve a series of cinematic attacks, and randomized button combinations, which have to be executed precisely within a time limit. The final aspect of the battles which is interesting, and which gives Ultimate Ninja the feel of Super Smash Bros. is the support characters. Every now and then the support character will pop up, and hand out items that you can either throw (projectiles), items that can heal you, or items that can heal your chakra. Most other details of the game are negligible, like the music or the shop (which is much like the Krypt in Mortal Kombat).

With all these good aspects of the game some may be wondering why I gave this game four stars instead of five, well here are the reasons. My two biggest complaints are the lack of characters, and slight inaccuracies in the story mode. The first (the lack of characters) is the most important. In the game there are only twelve distinct characters, and two secret characters, but the story goes up to the Chunin Exam. Too many characters that play a major part in the Exam are left out in Naruto Ultimate Ninja, and this sometimes leads to inaccuracies in the story. Again as a Dragonball Z fan, I may be too used to hundreds of characters in a game (DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 had 150 distinct characters and that still wasn't enough), but there are some key Naruto characters that should be in this game.

This leads to my second complaint which is the inaccuracies in the story. Because of the lack of characters, the story mode was made too short, and too many battles were left out. Also in two cases the second round of the Chunin Exam Finals takes place between Shikamaru, and Sakura. Anyone who has seen or read that match knows that it really took place between Shikamaru, and Temari.

The last minor point that I would like to add is that all of the characters have almost identical fighting styles, and the combinations are almost completely the same. At any rate, the game was still fun, and I can always play more of it. I may not recommend it to people who are not Naruto fans, but for anyone else it is a great game. Dragonball Z fans should also look into Naruto plus the Ultimate Ninja series is just about the only series of solid fighting games based on the show. So if you liked DBZ, and its games for the fighting, then you would also like Naruto, and this game.

I had heard that this game was like king of fighters and street fighter put together. They should also throw in Samurai Showdown. This game is pretty good. The backgrounds are dope. The combos are off the chain. And the characters are really well drawn.

The reason I bought THIS one was because of the story mode. I wanted to fight my way through for a reason. But I was pretty disappointed in it. SNK and CAPCOM usually have a bit of a story where the characters have about a minute of non closure in pictures. THIS game had one picture for the ending. The extra two characters aren't that great either. So I think that your should probably get the second to last one and just play your friends.

There have been so many iterations and rehashes of the guilty gear franchise, but this one is much more than a mere rehash. there are so many add ons and extra content in this game. The additions to accent core is that there is now a story mode for all the characters, and a mission mode, and kliff and justice have returned to the roster. Also there are extra versions of all the characters. There is also a gallery, and a special voice actor gallery where you can listen to voice clips of the various VA's in the game. An extensive soundtrack is also included. This is a must have for fighting game fans, and guilty gear fans alike.

I just got the game today and played for about an hour, so I'm not gonna go deep in details. However, I think an hour is enough for me to recommend this game to fighting fans.

If you have played GG X or XX before, you know what to expect. I can't compare it with the previous ones since I played them a long time ago. However, everything good about the series, as far as I can remember, is here in this latest installment.

If you're new to the series, this is the good chance to start. The game has great character/background designs. Characters are well-balanced. Combat is fast-paced.

The best thing is that the controls and special moves are pretty accessible to players on different levels. Button-mashers could get into the game enough to have fun with most of the characters, while elite players could still go a lot deeper and enjoy unleashing crazy combos and more complicated moves. There are a lot of modes to play, but I haven't tried them yet.

In conclusion, this game is definitely worth adding to your PS2 library. Serious fighters or not, you won't be dissappointed.

DBZ B3 is great because it is a ton of fun and it is simple to pick up and enjoy. The characters controls are all the same (eventhough action animations are all different) so it is very simple to pick up new characters from the huge available list and just go to town. Its just fun- strategicly speaking, certain characters have certain strengths, some have more effective attacks and resource management than others, but if you want a fighter that you are just gonna have fun with---pick it up! Not being a DBZ fan isnt that important- but it is helpful to know at least a bit about the show.

This game is great, it's the best DBZ yet... I have played almost every DBZ game that has come out, including GT Final Bout, Budokai, Budokai 3, Tenkaichi, Tenkaichi 2, and Super Dragon Ball... and I came to the conclusion that Budokai 3 it's the best for several reazons: first of all the graphics are good, it may look a little squared sometimes but as it is in a "2D" format you won't notice it; second, the controls are easy, you learn them fast and allow you a large number of combos and combinations; the amount of characters avaliable is perfect, there are 40 characters and 50 transformations, which is mora than eough to give you from where to choose and not too large to overwhelm you.

The story mode does skip some potentially good fights but it allows you to play the fights exactly as they looked in the series, not as in the Tenkaichi 2 game, where you get to read the results of the fights.

The fact that you can customize your characters gives you a lot of freedom and a sense of pride with any character you play.

The introduction of Dragon Rush and the rock,scissors,paper game was perfect, not allowing too experiences players to completely decimate amateurs without a fighting chance (and they look great), even though they are repetitive they won't annoy you (unless you are a pure "I play wihtout emotional crap" kind of player.

And yes, it is possible to learn how the computer fights and acquire a strategy to win every time, but in which fighting game isn't it?, the great thing about this game is the 1p against 2p mode anyway.

The game is great, buy it, it's a must have for any DBZ fan and even others.

Having played Samurai Shodown 1 and 2 on SNES, I felt that it was a must to purchase this collection to experience all that the series has to offer. With 5 games packed onto one disk at the extremely low price of $15, it was definitely worth a shot. And I was right.

If you're looking for the nostalgia of playing a great 2D fighter with an array of characters and lots of replay value than this is it. Unfortunately, the only way to get good at this game is play against your friends, and this can only be done with someone sitting next to you. I would have definitely given this game 5 stars if there were online battles. Without them, you're forced to play against the extremely difficult (and cheap!) AI to improve your skills.

I played a lot of SFIII: Third Strike, Capcom vs. SNK 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in college and thought I was a decent player, even against computer opponents. With this game, it's nearly impossible to get through a single battle with out getting completely trashed by the weakest characters. With my first run through Samurai Shodown II, I had to play it on the easiest setting and I still spent an hour trying to defeat Hanzo, the second to last character, and another hour fighting the final boss. The frustration of not being able to land super moves right after your computer opponent has dropped his guard from executing a special move will make you want to throw your controller at the wall. The AI also has a tendency to throw out light punches or kicks right before you start combo-ing from light to heavy attacks. It'll make your head spin how hard some of these battles are.

But all in all, the game is a lot of fun when played with friends. It also has an added practice mode for you to hone your skills and a character edit mode which essentially lets you change the colors of each character. Nice touches, but nothing to go crazy over.

It's interesting the paramble of fighters that emerged from the confines of gaming history during the early 90's. It's strangely a now long forgotten and seemingly irrevelant era...but if there's any indicator of its willingness to survive on worthwhile compilations, than by all means. SNK...keep doing your thang. "Samurai Showdown" was one of the first gaming experiences in my life that offered a truly Eastern experience that never really relied on stereotypes...it more or less encompasses vestiges of history and the characters within being brought together, redrawn with pure 90's awesomeness, and thrown in with some palpable music to create one of the more engaging experiences on the 2-D fighting plain. "Anthology", with its limited run (a local Gamestop said I'd have to travel to South Carolina to pick up a copy...) will undoubtedly claim its hard-worn value in time. But I don't think I'm gonna sell this one down the road. I've only begun to attempt to master SS-1 and getting my butt slobbered. These are not the "Hyper" type of fighting games, and as my experience has yielded, I'm realizing that to truly succede is a matter of patience...as much with an actual sword fight, one would assume. It's truly a marvel how that essence is carried within this series. It would take "Soul Calibur" to provide a spiritual succesor to the throne of weapon based combat...and that's not bad at all.

I recently purchased this game and have found it to be extremely addictive. Each fighter has its own unique fighting style and cool combination of moves which make the game not only fun but challenging. The higher up you go is the more difficult it gets and the quicker and more accurate your skills need to be. You find yourself not wanting to put down the controls so that you can get to the next level. The practice mode is quite useful in figuring out the combinations that best suit each fighter. Playing with friends is even more exciting. Sometimes when I sleep I find myself dreaming about the game. It is a must have!!

Mortal Kombat's triumphant return with "Deadly Alliance" leaves somewhat of a sour taste leftover. The plus side is fatalities are easy to execute, however, each character only has one fatality, and some are downright silly. Deception plays the same as this game, but has a much better Konquest mode, better characters, and more fatalities. I only reccomend getting this if you want to play as Quan Chi, Kitana, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, Jax, or Raiden without his new "dark look" in deception. Or you could just...you know, wait for MK Armageddon to come out, which is a long way off.

"Enjoyable Naruto game" 2008-12-31

I expected the worst because this game got a really score by IGN but then again there have been many low scoring games rated by them that haven't been that bad. With that said, I liked the game. I am familiar with the series so the game filled up part of my expectations.

Graphics: The characters look just like they do in the Anime. The dubbed actors do a decent job with the vocals here. The graphics are decent for the most part again keeping intact how the series looks.

Sound: Sound is great. The music they use fits the environments in the game. As stated they also have the actors do the voices and they seem to have fun with the game.

Challenge: Challenge was ok could have been higher. It's a very easy game for an experience game. With that said, it was still enjoyable to change between characters use their strengths to your advantage.

The story was decent too with the Puppet Walkers and Shirogane clan.

The game comes with a couple of other different modes of play. I got this in the bargain bin part of Blockubuster and for the most part I thought it was worth getting. Definite fun.

i like to say i'm very pleased with this Naruto Uzmaki chronucles 2 the grapics are great its a lot better than the first uzumaki chronicles. i'll give you some info about what the game is all about the five great nations comes under attack with new mysterious enemy called the Shirogane clan who are destroying the village their wanting to get their hands on ancient and powerful spirt orbs to restore defunct shirogane clan and resurrecting an ancient master puppet.

they are 10 playable characters Naruto ,sakura,Kankuro, Neji,Rock Lee (also know as bushy brow) Shikamaru gaara,Kakashi itachi uchiha plus other characters like Choji might guy sasuke and Kisame Temari i dont know if you get to play her.

the game begins with Naruto returting from a hard mission and he heading back to the village to stop in at ickiraku shop to have a blow of ramen then Kankuro arrive on the scene and tells Naruto that the hidden leaf village is in trouble that they must see the fifth Hokage. you fellow Kankuro to the village and when you arrive the puppet walkers arrive you start to fight them, Kankuro that the puppet walkers had already invaded the land of wind and swarmed the hidden land of sand and not only the leaf village is threatned also the land of fire will face the same fateas the lands of lighting,earth,water nd wind to suffer at the hands of the shirogane clan.

after you defated the puppetb walkers this lizard puppet approaches and tell Naruto and Kankuro what shirogane clan is wanting the spirt orbs to resurrecting the puppter master then Kakashi arrive and attacks the lizard puppet using his lighten blade but has no effect and the puppet Lizaed vanishes so Naruto Kankuro and Kakashi report to Lady Tsunade that the great five nations are danger.

You start chapter 1 mission save the burning villages so you team up with Naruto Sakura and Kakashi and head to the kisaragi village you use the map to get to location of the village but along the way to fight bandits through out the game you take on mission fighting puppet walkers and you team up with other characters. i found the mission hard speacliy when it got to chapter 4 i got stuck so i had to order the game guide to help me and it did so i'm in the middel of playing of playing chapter 6 leaf village is a war .

there's other game modes you can play mission survival 2p battle so this game will keep you busy i'm looking forward to playing the Kakakshi saga when he fights agaisnt Itachi Uchila.

well i hope my review on the game is useful i recomend this naruto game for Naruto fans you should buy the naruto Uzumaki chronicles 2 game guide to help you becasue the game is hard to beat.

I am a novice gamer so personally, I enjoyed the first Uzumaki Chronicles. I was challenged in the first one and expecting much more from the second installment. It is true that Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles 2 was much better than the first. The story is original, yet fitting, the music is better and more varied, and there are more characters to play.

The story starts with the Sand Ninja Kankuro and his puppets. He tells Naruto about a puppet wielding clan, the Shirogane Clan and their quest to gather the Spirit Orbs. It's up to you, Naruto, and your friends to unravel the mystery of the clan and the "puppetwalkers" & why they crave wanting the Spirit Orbs so bad.

The fact that you and a friend can play together is a plus. Like any game, it has it's bosses that can be tough. Too tough in fact, so you may need to go with a strategy guide. This game will appeal to all Naruto fans. The cut scenes and the graphics are improved form the first, but still a bit choppy. I guess it's a PS2 thing. The fighting is definitely better and not as predictable or repetitive as the first one. I loved the skill plate system in the first one and it returns here. If you are not an experienced super gamer, but a Naruto, fan this is right up your alley.

This game is totally worth the money!! There are alot of well known boxer's in this game(except Flloyd Mayweather but maybe he'll be in the next game). Anyways I love the career mode. You start as an ameruer fighting in the gym, then you grow into a superstar, and soon champion. It's really authentic too! Like when your fighter ages, he'll actually gain weight, and what sucks is you can't whip em back into shape either. Bummer. Another good thing is the tactics for dodging and power punching. It's based on how well you work the dualshock stick or whatever you call it. Anyways really simple and easy to get the hang of. Overall I gave this game a 4/5, because its pretty cool! Can't wait for round 4 though heh heh!!

Let me just say this game is nothing short of fantastic. The gameplay is smooth, controls are nice, graphics are great, and even the commentary is decent in this game.

Between fights you manually heal your cuts, which is cool. Your trainer will give you pep talks specific to your situation. Example: "You really need to block that right eye, or the ref is going to stop the fight, that cut is awful."

The controls are beautiful. There are 5 different configurations you can choose from.

Career mode is alright. Rivalries are random, and there doesn't seem to be much importance put into championships and such. The rivalry thing is rather lame. Before you fight a rival it'll show you at the weigh in and your opponent always punches you and you have a little mini fight in first person view. Not my favorite, but again it's not bad enough to deduct from the rating of the game.

Character customization is pretty cool. You can buy different pieces of gear including trunks, boots, mouthpiece, gloves, etc, all having attribute additions to your figther. Ex: Speed +20%.

The only major drawback to this game is that it is extremely easy. Even on the hard difficulty, with a weight class or two lower than your opponent, you almost have to TRY to lose.

I love this game, and I can't wait for round 4.

This game tops Fight Night 2004, and in turn it beats out the great Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing from a long time ago. (Of note, I didn't much care for Fight Night Round 2; in my opinion it had too much of a reliance on haymakers and not enough of a reliance on boxing.)

Pros:

- This game is fun!

- The play control is good.

- This game has a lot of replay value.

- The play by play commentator is actually pretty decent.

- You can move and block at the same time in this version.

Cons:

- The CPU opponent is way too easy even on hard.

- There are too many variations of the super punch.

- There aren't rag doll knockdown physics in this version.

- There's only rap music in the soundtrack (you can turn it off).

In closing: if you're a boxing fan, I'd say it's just about a surefire bet that you're going to like this game a lot.

This was one of my favorite video games and still is except I don't play video games as much anymore. This in my opinion is actually better then the next two years 2008 and 2009. This game for the most part has a lot of positives to it. First off the create a player mode is great and is advanced from the year before. You can actually if you put the time in create a wrestler that is exactly like one in real life. For example Scott Stiner is not in the game but you can create a wrestler that looks just like him. If you go online you can get instructions to make the wrestler look exactly like the one in real life. Also there is create a ppv, create a championship and create a show options. I really like these because not all of my friends like to play wrestling games so I know that this is a fun option to play by myself. The game itself is fairly easy to beat unless you put it on the hardest mode. The one part that I like but is really hard to play is GM Mode. You have to beat out the other teams show as being GM creating matches and you get graded on talent and how good the matches are. The problem is it is so hard to beat on normal mode you can't get past it and this is frustrating. A very good videogame overall and I would pick it up even though its two years later. In my opinion its better then the next two smackdown vs. raw games and a lot of fun modes to play in this game.

So, what changed since 'Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain' ?

Good: more things to do, fast grapple attack, graphics is WAAAY better, there is voice acting.

Good: lot of old superstars, Hulk Hogan, The Rock , Mandkind, Steve Austin.

Bad: you can't save tag team partner when he is in opponent's submission hold, although you can try to hit or catch him. Result: as if you try to hit ghost.

Bad:you can find a pattern how to beat opponent and use it during WHOOOLE GAME! . Mick Foley is character I tried game with , just use right analog and tilt left and then punch opp. head. It is also easy , too easy to Irish whip to corner (L+diagonal+R1+X) and then just suplex them off the top rope.

BAD: You need to work a lot to unlock Hulk, Rock, and other interesting guys.

I just tried the game and that's it, TOO REPETITIVE FOLKS !

KoF '98 Ultimate Match is a fantastic purchase for anyone still into fighters on the PS2. I've been playing this game non-stop with my friends since receiving the game. It's actually taken a lot of my time away from Street Fighter 4. The additional characters (Geese! and more) really make an old game feel awesome. You can turn on/off 3-D backgrounds, but I'd leave them on--they look great. One thing to do as soon as you receive the game: turn off the soft focus feature. The soft focus slightly blurs the characters to make them look smoother, but I find the game more enjoyable and better looking with all the characters in their full pixel glory.

I'm really new to the KOF universe and I have to say that this is a great game! A little background from me. Ok, so as I was growing up, I was mainly exposed to the SF franchise. I played a few Fatal Fury games and Samurai Shodown but not much else. I decided to try KOF recently and was delighted! Sure, I noticed less frame counts. Weak and strong buttons for punch and kick were only available. Sprites could also be improved. Once I adjusted to that, I realized how technical this game can be. No button mashing here!

As far as the game goes, there are several modes. Single, 2P VS, CPU VS, Endless, and Challenge....It's just awesome! You get two games for the price of one. The original NEO GEO classic of KOF 98. No glitches that I noticed. I like the fact that you can choose from Advanced (agressive fighting) or Extra (defensive fighting) at the beginning of the match. There's more. The other game (mode) is Ultimate Match. You can mix up agressive and defensive fighting settings. Again, no glitches. Both games are balanced in terms of fighting. Not only that, you get 64 characters to choose from! The most in any KOF so far.

A fighting game fan will not want to miss this. Even if you already have King of Fighters Orochi Saga, do yourself a favor and get it!

King of Fighters has always been a game whose technical features rival that of Street Fighter for years. It's unfortunate that people will often just set this game aside due to it's differences (Running, Rolling, Knockback, etc). Anyways, probably the best KOF series to date. Though there are some character balancing issues (especially with bosses), but you wouldn't need to choose them anyways. Worth a buy for any fighting game fan.

"King Of Fighters 98 Version 2.0" 2009-03-08

1998: SNK releases King of Fighters 98: The Slugfest for the Neo*Geo. The 5th game in the series & has been a fan favorite since.

2008: SNK Playmore (successor company to SNK) releases King of Fighters 98: The Ultimate Match for the Taito Type X (arcade hardware). A PS2 version was released months later in Japan.

And now it's finally released in North America. So what's the different between this & the original game (which is in here as well)? They are:

9 new fighters that wasn't in the original game (the KoF 96 boss team, Kasumi, Eiji, Goenitz, Orochi, as well as Iori & Leona in their Riot of the Blood form), meaning that every fighter that appeared in 94 & throughout the Orochi Saga (95-97) are here. There are also new extra versions of King, Blue Mary, Geese, and Ryuji Yamazaki. King is based on her Art of Fighting 2 counterpart while the rest are hybrids of their appearances throughout the Real Bout Fatal Fury series. The returning fighters have been tweaked to give the game more balance with some given new moves.

In terms of game play, Extra & Advance Mode have also been mortified. The former's POW meter has been shorten (but it won't get any shorter when you lose a fighter unlike in the original game.) & it fills up quicker. There's also a new mode: Ultimate Mode which allows you to customize features from both Extra & Advance modes. Also unlike in the original game, any owned stock will be transferred to the next fighter. A big plus as you no longer have to worry about losing some & all your stock when you get K.O.ed.

Also, Omega Rugal's not the only final boss you can go up against. Depending on how well you play, you can also go up against Goenitz (& going up against the KoF 96 Boss Team prior) or Orochi (& fighting the Orochi Team prior).

The PS2 version has lots of choices for the solo gamer (it's still best to play with a friend) from Endless Survival, & Challenge Mode (with 30 different challenges). As previously mentioned, the original King of Fighters 98's in here as well, which I think is based on the AES version as there`s a vs. mode, survivor mode & you could even play as Omega Rugal too! Also there's no real loading & it lacks the audio miscues that exists in the PS2 Orochi Collection version.

I only have two issues with this game. One is the graphics. While the stages are very nice (& there's more of them here than in the original game & you can set them up in 2D or 3D), the sprites look like they haven't been mortified in years, if not over a decade. Nonetheless, this ain't Capcom Fighting Evolution! The other issue is the fact that there are no real endings. Even the intro to Omega Rugal & his ending scene when you beat him in the original game are omitted here.

Despite this, the Ultimate Match takes the original King of Fighters 98 game & makes it even better. In reality, it also makes the recently released King of Fighters Collection- The Orochi Saga somewhat obsolete as you'll getting the best elements of the first 4 games rolled up into this one. Plus, at $20, this is a steal. Add in unlockablies like hidden fighters, artwork, & game play video & you got a game that's a must for fans of the series, or 2-D fighters in general. With this out, & Samurai Shodown Anthologycoming out soon, how about bringing the recently released-in Japan, King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match to North America?

In addition to the game, you'll be getting a poster & a bonus CD. It's a data disc, so you'll need a PC to access it. It has wallpapers & a couple of trailers for this game & the upcoming King of Fighters XII.

I bought this game to entertain me for part of the summer and I was not disappointed. There is a lot of gameplay in several different areas that make this game multifaceted and fun. There are lots of characters to keep you playing so you can unlock even more. The whole fusion thing is a little confusing, but you can look online to figure it out. The fighting takes a little getting used to, but there are plenty of moves. You'll enjoy figuring out new combos as you get better. Some of the intros to the different fights get old if you have to repeat them. Overall a very fun game that follows the DBZ and DBGT story lines pretty well.

Ok if you read my reveiw on the first Dragonball Z Tenkaichi game, you'd know that im not a huge fan of the camera angles or the over your shoulder gameplay. But i've decided to give the series a second chance by purchasing Daragonball Z Budokai tenkaichi 2 at a local Game Stop. I must say that im really impressed! Over 120 playable characters (unlike Tenkaichi one's 40), which is a huge improvement to me. Another thing is that the graphics are slightly better. The story mode is amazingly and satisfiyingly long, which I love in a video game. Even when your done with story mode there's still loads of stuff you can do so gameplay is endless. I now see why this game was placed runner up for 2006's Best Of E3 awards. Well, i've said what i've had to say. This game overall changed my opinion on Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi. 5/5!!

I played this game for like 50 hours and still only had 53% completion total. I had just beaten the Buu saga at that point. I had not done every side objective that I had available but I did several, and had pretty good fun but it was somewhat boring because I have seen every episode from the very beginning of Dragon Ball Z to the very end of the Buu saga (and I think that might be the end of Z but I am not sure). Anyways, I had a relatively good amount of fun but somehow my save got deleted and I decided it was not fun enough to complete those same 50 hours over again just to get back to where I was. I would love to be able to just pick it up and keep playing from where I left off, but I cant. So, it is highly likely that this will be sitting gathering dust for a long time, until I had forgotten why I put it away to begin with, then I will likely get it back out and relive the fun!

I love the game. The graphics are in keeping with true DBZ form and the concept of it all and extra features make it very interesting but, if it lacks anything it would be the lack of adult design. It sounds (both the music and especially the dialogue) like something for children when more than half of the DBZ fan base have already grown to young adulthood or older. It needs a more adult feel without compromizing the purity of the game play so that older and younger can fully enjoy it.

This game is so awesome that I played it for months and months and possibly even over a year after I got it. I absolutely love it, it is one of the best games on the platform. I like the fighting engine a lot more than other DBZ fighters like Budokai. Tons of fun, especially when you go against your brother and have such epic struggles that you about break your controller and blind yourself with the blazing speed of the fight. However, despite how awesome this is, the 3rd sequel has been released and it's even better, so you should get that instead.

Fans of the King of Fighters series know the splendor of this game, so to have a collection of 5 games in one disk is pretty sweet. Loaded with bonus artwork, soundtracks, and standard but helpful button rearrangement. In all fairness, though, the benefit of this is really just to see how far the game has come. The evolution, if you will, of crappy game play to better. Rarely would I find myself playing KoF'94 over KoF'98. This is on account of nostalgia, rather than actually having fun. If you do play any of these games, make sure you play with an official Street Fighter controller because the PS2 dualshock will cramp your thumbs.

I'm a big fan of Dragonball Z and, as you can tell by my reviews, I get pretty much any DBZ game that comes out. When I found out that Infinite World was coming out on the PS2, I was kind of skeptical at first of looking into it but decided to get it because of its' low price. After playing it, all I can say is it is a somewhat fun diversion for a little while but I wouldn't call it the best in the Budokai series.

Why? Well, the fighting has been watered down greatly compared to previous games. Gone are the beam battles and over the top power moves. The arenas that you fight in aren't anything new, mostly arenas you've seen before in past Budokai games. You can still modify your character by editing his or her skills as well as tranform and whatnot. Dragon Mission serves as the game's story mode but leaves quite a bit to be desired, I'm afraid. The minigames and missions just aren't that fun to me. There are two other modes: Dragon Duel is a versus mode where you can challenge a second player or the computer, and the unlockable Fighter's Road has you fighting with more than 100 combatants to unlock and take down across four maps. Still, it doesn't make up for the fact that this game is mildly entertaining.

For this to be DBZ's last hurrah on the Playstation 2, it's a shame that it didn't go out with alot more glory. As much as I want to recommend this game to any DBZ fan, all I can advise is to rent it first and then decide. You might feel differently than I do about its' content. I can think of alot more I could've did with my money....like get Dragonball Origins.

Infinite World is an excellent addition to the DBZ series of games. Budokai 3 was an excellent game that came about as close to the series as any fighting game could. Then Tenkaichi came out and they somewhat dropped the fighting aspect and moved onto the series simulation aspects. Don't get me wrong, those games are excellent too, but it can be a little difficult to have good matches in those with other people. Infinite World, on the other hand, is somewhat of a return to form.

First off, Infinite World was made by Dimps and feels alot like Budokai 3. That said, it's very different too. It seems that they recognized that Tenkaichi was the series simulator, so they moved on to making a better fighting game. That said, they did so using mechanics from the series as well! Essentially, this is Budokai 3, with strategic uses of Ki, Fatigue, Juggles, Teleport Counters, and Combo Cancels. If you can't master every single one of those aspects, the AI will tear you apart on any difficulty.

All in all, this is one of my favorite DBZ games. It's very difficult like many games of olden days, but it does so fairly. If you master the game, the difficulty won't be an issue. I suggest you pick up this and Tenkaichi 2 both. If you can't stand hard games, then get Budokai 3 instead. These three games represent the pinnacle of DBZ.

The 'Kreate-a-Fighter' option, plus 62 characters gives this game the edge over any of the other MK games. I've played MK vs DC Universe and this is a far better game. Mainly, because of the vast amount of characters. But, the gameplay is a bit better also. You can dodge projectiles better in this game.

You can also play online with the ps2 slim model or ethernet equipped unit. Just connect you PS2 directly to your router. Connecting is easy and automatic. But, you will need a memory card to save your network connection info.

This is the first MK I've played since MK3 and I purchased this game specifically so I could play with the character Sektor on the PS2. The character graphics are really nice on this game and Sektor along with old and new characters get nice "makeovers." The set designs are a bit basic, but with such a huge selection of characters and other side games available like Konquest and Motor Kombat, they had to cut corners somewhere I guess. Personally, I'd prefer to have left off the Motor Kombat game, it's a kids game. Konquest was quite fun to play & challenging and it's a good way for them to weave a storyline into the MK fighting.

If you were a fan of the original MK arcade or Nintendo games as I am, you'll enjoy this one. There are many new characters that I was not familiar with, but the original characters like Sub Zero and Raiden are still there, though Raiden looks much more sinister in this game than I remember him looking in the original MK game.

The music tracks throughout the game are very good, though the tracks are a bit short at about 1 minute, then they just loop and play the same track during the fight scenes. But some of them were quite good and I made an effort to locate and download the mp3 files for those tracks that I liked.

But as I said, my reason specifically for buying this game was that my favorite MK game was MK3 because I liked Sektor and to a lesser degree, Smoke. If you too are a fan of those cyborgs, I believe this is the only game since MK3 that you can use those characters as a main playable character. All in all a very fun game as you'd expect from the MK series. And I was able to beat the game within a couple of hours, though the Konquest game was much longer and provided many hours of play for me. Thanks to Midway for bringing back a classic character like Sektor to the PS2.

I'm not sure what is up with all the negative reviews of this game (and my review of it....hahaha) - I think some fans of the MK series were upset that this game was not much of an improvement over the prior game,Deadly Alliance, but this game in and of itself is very well made, a lot of fun, and you have about 50 characters to choose from which Deadly Alliance didn't offer.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has to be the best Mortal Kombat game yet! It features every character to ever appear in the Mortal Kombat series, and, for the first time ever, a Kreate a Character mode, where you can customize your fighter's gender, look, name, fighting style, weapon style, and special moves. Just like Mortal Kombat: Deception, this game has a Konquest mode that follows it's own unique story line. As much as I am excited about Mortal Kombat VS. Dc Comics, even though I don't even own a PS3 yet, I am not excited to review this game. Alot of characters, really, but couldn't you at least made new outfits, Boon!?!? I do appreciate this game, after all, it's fair, but I think they could have done MUCH better, even if we had to wait longer for the release.

This game is awesome! Your weapons are great, your flying abilities are insane, and the levels are well made.

In the first level, you are in the Mach 1 Iron Man Suit. You learn to use a flametrower and to melee attack. All of the levels are well crafted and has outstanding graphics.

WEAPONS:

After the first level, you use the regular suit. In every level, you have three main weapons. Before the level, you choose which kind of repolsers, machine gun, and exterior rockets you want. All of the weapons are very efective.

FLYING:

Flying is really hard. Most of the time, you end up using hover.[which is easy to control] When you fly, you go so fast, you can't turn that easily! You mostly want to fly in a large area.

ENEMIES:

The enemies aren't that hard to beat. The swat team soldiers die in one punch, the tanks and helicopters are a bit harder to beat, and bosses can be difficult. During every boss, there's somewhere you can hide. Just hide behind there and attack when he's not firing. The Iron Monger [the final boss] is really easy to defeat.

Like every game, there's PROS and CONS.[GOOD and BAD] There are a couple of each.

PROS:

.The levels have a neat premise.

.With all of your powers, you can make things explode!

.From beginning to end, this game includes a wide variety of challenges and puzzles.

CONS:

.It only has 13 levels.

.There isn't a free roam.

As we conclude this review, this game gets two thumbs up. The graphics are amazing, the weapons are amazing, the flying abilities are amazing, IRON MAN IS AMAZING!!!!

Do not waste your time with buying this game. Rent it instead. The game is too short, the moves get old, and you pass it so fast it isnt fun no more. I'll admit the graphics and characters are great but it only has few chapters that you can play. That is why I recommend renting it because it takes about 1 day to pass. If you decide to buy it you will just pass it and it will gather dust. Buy the movie because the game ruins it.

I only bought this game because of an interview I saw with the designers. One guy said that it "easily" had 8-9 hours of playing storyline, but you can easily finish it all in 2, which breaks down to $15/hr, and that's a ripoff. The guy deliberately lied. He also said that there was all sorts of free world roam, and that's a lie as well, too. You ONLY get battle areas, which can be large and mazelike, but you're contained to that main area. And in many levels, you can't even leave the current battle scene, or you get a "talking to." Stupid.

Plus, the upgrades are very limited, despite what the trailer shows, another disappointment. The function changer was also annoying. It'd give me Unibeam when I wanted Repulsors, and it's slow to change.

All in all, very average.
